I don't understand why everyone has them, is looks all they care about? Their not reliable are they? I know someone with 2 seized engines (not thrashing it) and their not cheap to buy. I reckon rs125 owners on here probably outweight other bikes 2:1
so what's the appeal? blooming aprilla boys ____________________ -=[Sam/b]=- cx500's the only way to travel, we do it in style just like jimmy saville

A bit like the ZXR400 if you ask me. The real question is why everyone tarts them? ____________________ I must not be a troll...

I've heard about how fast they are for a 125. I think that's got to be the only thing going for them, and I suppose they do look like a proper bike (until you turn the engine on) ____________________ -=[Sam/b]=- cx500's the only way to travel, we do it in style just like jimmy saville

Hi
Why so many? I only have one .
They are a very quick 125. Top speed is a realistic 100mph, and acceleration is pretty good. They handle very well and have very good brakes. They look good (well, the early ones did). They are reliable if treated properly. They are very light. Build quality is not bad (certainly better than my 1200 Bandit, for example)
The Mito is close (better at some things, worse at others), but both are noticeable faster than the other choices, with better handling and brakes. To give you some idea of how quick they are, there were 3 at the last Cadwell track day we went to, one of which was one of the fastest bikes in the intermediate group giving the instructor on a Triumph Daytona a hard time.
Yes I do have one. I have had it for almost 12 years. I bought it almost 5 years after I passed my bike test (and it was the 3rd Aprilia 125 I bought since my test), and I owned an FZ750 as well when I bought it.
All the best

The RS125 is ok, it looks kinda bubbly for my liking.
The Mito is the daddy of the 125’s but if you want a little more life out of your bike (access to parts) then get the RS. Exotic’s are becoming more and more popular, I remember the days of just Suzuki, Yam, Kwak and Honda being the bad boys toys.
European styling and engineering has come forward along way, there is defiantly a market for these high reving short lived machines.
Talk of 100mph+ to you standard shite TZR gets boys dribbling. ____________________ Cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.

Lets be honest, now although I'm 30 and have owned my RS since 2001 with *touch wood* no problems, I do accept that due to average age of an RS owner they are going to break.
That doesn't make them a bad bike, hell you could take any make of bike big or small that if it isn't treated reasonably the likelihood is that it will break!
I should be due for taking a full test shortly, and although I do fancy a slightly bigger machine, I wouldn't be worried about keeping the RS for another year or so. |

I had an RS at 17. Fantastic bike, brilliant fun.
Sold it early this year to fund a bandit 600 but soon to buy another one early next month, hoping to track it and run in the occasional club race.
I found it more fun to ride than my 600. Cant wait to get my hands on another though. ____________________ Aprilia RSV Mille R Edwards Replica - Aprilia RS250 - Suzuki GSXR600 Supersport Race Bike |

I never realy liked the RS's... They are just too common for my liking. Back at school everyone was like "Im gona get me a RS50, itll thrash your stupid car, its sooo fast" and then "Im gona derestirict it, and put all this other shit on it, and itll be lightning speed!"... and when ever i see an RS with a ride <20 years old i automatically stereotype them into what i remember from school... i did not want to be associated with that.
Also i dont actually think they are the best looking bike, they look all bubbly, and bloated, with random bulges that i dont see any point to... i much prefer the NSR125s, hence why i bought one, rather than the RS. ____________________ CBT Aug '03 ... Gilera GSM 50 ... Honda NSR 125 Aug '04 ...
