I have had a pretty good offer, i let a guy ride my storm yesterday and he said do i want to do a straight swap for a T reg R6, pretty much imac! I have a 97(R) Storm in mint con!! The R6 is worth more than the storm but not too sure what to do as i love my storm but have always wanted an R6!!!!! Any one who has ridden both might be able to help, i only use the bike for a toy but i would consider running cost etc as i have found the Storm drink petrol like a car!!
Any help will be great, cheers
Wez

The R6 is a lot more sports focussed, harsher riding position, slightly more bland, no where near as torquey as your 1l v-twin!

Personally I'd prefer the R6.

Newer, worth more, prettier, won't sound as good, won't pull quite as hard, but I think I probably would.

I would say the R6 is a better 'toy'.

It will go almost as fast in a straightline as the storm, but you do have to work it a bit more.

It's this 'working' the bike that I personally find fun; the r6 will reward you if you really thrash it, while the storm won't go much faster.

The r6 definitely has better suspension etc than the storm, though for me is less comfortable to ride (but a better position when pushing it).

R6 still = Jap IL4

Whereas the storm is still a Jap, but a 1l v-twin is something a bit different.

I'd take the VTR, loads more grunt and a more 'fun' bike to ride on the road. Don't even need to mention the wheelies and noise! Cool

I'd go for the R6 for fun, the storm if you are going to have to use it for more mundane things like commuting.

When i bought my R6 the other bikes i was thinking of was an older 'blade or a new Firestorm.
I chose the R6 and haven't regretted it,i think i would have grown tired of the 'storm.Sometimes i'd like more mid-range than the R6 but you never tire of the storming top end and great handling Very Happy
Go for it Thumbs Up

My opinion is that the R6 is a much more 'fun' bike. I agree that the VTR is more bland, by a long way. I would say the 6 is quicker, handles better, better fuel economy and much better looking. Personally I find the Firestorm a bit on the boring side. I agree with above that it is a bit more of a commuter, although can have its moments.

Thats MY opinion by the way, some may love the Firestorm...but not me Wink

I've ridden both bikes back to back..

The R6 is deffo more fun, sporty etc.

The VTR was ace to ride though, nice power if a bit lazy and sounds great.

Out of the two, I'd have the R6 back..
