I'll be buying a bike soon and after having my last one nicked in January I can safely say no-one is getting near this one. I've already got a ground anchor, 2 chains and a disc lock but I want to get an alarm that'll be good without paying extortionate amounts.

Cheers for any ideas

I have an astradon alarm I'm desperate to get rid of for less than £100. Make an offer and I'll probably accept. Wink

Requires wiring knowedge which is why I can't use it. Smile

LOL, that's me knackered as well then!

It helps having a dad who's a perfectionist spanner-monkey though lol

When I get my money for my loan through I'll send you a PM mate, cheers

i've got a data tool system 3 alarm/immobilisher also. it's very sensative and has deterred many people from further touching my bike. the best thing to do is haggle. i bought a bike from the guys who supplied me with the alarm so they did it for 200. haggle haggle haggle!

Personally from what i have read i'd be buying one with a locator if i could afford it or at least one with a pager...

Allarms make bugger all difference, they will have disabled it within 20secconds and nobody pays any attention anyway, if you get paged you can catch them at it.

If its got a locator your FAR more likely to get it back (*what state it will be depends)

Depending on what sort of scum is going to steal your bike makes a difference too, example, pro scum will break them and sell them, datataging will put them off because its hassle and makes it traceable back to them.

I've got two, and they made no difference whatsoever with my last bike lol.

I'm not as worried about it in the garage, it'll be like Fort Knox in there, it's more for when I'm out and at work to be honest.

How about a meta tv2? Cost me £200, has alarm and immob all in one, cat 1 rated, and the key fob is quite stylish too.

How much was fitting mate? And will it make a big difference on insurance (any alarm I mean)?

I ended up with a Sola-larm.

Thatcham approved (made about 100 quid difference on my insurance).

Supplied and fitted by them for 180 quid +VAT

[Sorry about the use of "quid". I'm on an american keyboard laptop. No pound sign.]

They are in Bethnal Green and will fit for 60 quid. Or just buy it and get someone more local to you to fit it. Like someone else said, you need it to be fitted by approved fitters to get the warranty. I checked with Datatool and the peeps selling and fitting these are approved. I'm going to take my bike to them next month and get it done.

You can buy mine off me if you want. I bought it and it never got fixed before i totalled the bike. Its the expensive one, with the remote engine startup and remote Cut-out. The best feature is that it has a voice warning system that says: 'BACK OFF. This bike is protected by a Krypton Alarm'

Krypton Alarms.

£70 inc P&P and its yours Thumbs Up

It cost £200 including the fitting (I think that was the gimmick to make me buy it as I am NOT a techy!). In terms of the Fully Comp quotes, it reduced it somewhat by around £400-600 (though my 1st year quote on a CBR6 with no NCB is still over a grand, at 28 yrs old)

Thanks Fuzz, but it was a users comp. So I tend not to bother changing. I only forget and give myself headaches later.
