Hay I just got quoted £3000 for insurance for a zx6r. Am 17 restricted licenses and live in Huddersfield not exactly bike nicking country.
Any way just wanted to know what other 17 year olds payed for their zx6r’s insurance, if they’re lookly enough to have one.
Thumbs Up

I'm sure if you shop round you'd get it for half that TPFT providing its garaged, alarm, you have no points, and you claim the value is a bit lower than it actually is.

Sorry i didn’t exactly explain myself right there. What i am trying to say is there is some wild 17 year olds out there probably on high powered bikes acting like dicks, bumming yours and mine insurance up. Unlike you they would probably come off due to them acting the fool.

Sorry about u coming off hope u get the bike fixed

£1,300 TPO. You will be pushed to get it lower than that TBH. I think the ZX6R's are the highest group 600 too. I got cheaper quotes for an R6 and GSXR600.

I assume you mean £3,000 full comp.

A ZX6R is group 14 according to MCN. The same as the cbr but not sure if the gixxer is too.

£1176FC at 23, and i wouldnt have even entertained the idea of paying more than £1500 for insurance ever, not even for a 250bhp+ car!

I was considering an 02/03 Fireblade 2 years ago, but i would have had to pay nearly £1k again for insurance, so i didnt bother in the end, but i found that there was a massive difference between insuring a Blade and say an Aprilia Falco or Triumph Daytona 955i.

Thats why the lord invented 400's and 250's I'm afraid Riichy.

The insurance companies must know that 80% of 33bhp people experience the mysterious phenomenon that I have christened 'restrictor fall outage'.

Now, I'm not against 17 year olds having 600s, however if I had had a 600 when I was seventeen I would have missed out on all of the enjoyment of learning to rag a smaller bike to hell.

IMO you don't get as wide an experience of bikes if you hop straight on a 600, and there is a certain something missing from your riding if you have never had to nurse a clapped out 125 with popped fork seals through a set of bends.

However, if you do get insurance on it... enjoy and take it easy. Smile

Oh, and insurance companies don't change their quotes on the basis of 33bhp restriction.

In Fact, some companies put it up, as this is modification.

A few insurance companies have started special rates with 33BHP restriction. That's why mine is so cheap. I got a "Young rider, 33BHP restriction with AXA" for my policy, hence my low premium. Smile
