ARROW EXHAUST

Hi people i have an arrow exhaust on my bike just wanted to know if these are just end pipes or do they go up to the manifold and are they restricted.
Sorry if i sound dumb but i know nothing about bikes.

Just had a look at the exhaust again and it is just a slip on end so the chances are it still has a restrictor at the manifold end if the previous owner has not touched it.

alains, if he just has some arrow end cans then the restriction might still be present elsewhere.

Whereas if it's a full arrow system, then there will indeed be no restriction in the exhaust.

Doesn't stop there being an inlet restriction or CDI though. But then I know next to nothing about NSRs. Or whatever bike this is.

yes , indeed , most of the uk models have no rectrictions even on electronics , i am talking about post 1992 models (JC22) . these restrictions are applied on import models except italian . if you look the writting on the CDI , anything different of CI626 have restrictions (advance locked at 10500 RPM) . on rc valves control box any different of TV-78 2.9 have restrictions (70% openning)
exemple in france we have CI639 and TV-124 , restricted

Thats interesting to know, so if you had one of the older NSR125 imports, a new pipe, and removing the intake restrictor if fitted, would still not give full power. Ive heard that the NSR125RK models with the round headlights are quite hard to de-restrict, and if they have the restricted CDI and RC control box, then its expensive as well!

Mine is a nsr on a xplate (2000) does mine have a restricted CDI unit.

do not think about RK or something else , think about prior 1993 or after . there was no restrictions on the JC20 except the NSR125F , the restrictions applies in some européan countries after 1993 due to their change of legislation . but english models has not been changed . if you give me your serial number , i can tell you if it's restricted (for exemple mine is ZDCJC22B0WF205348)
B is for france , W is 1998 , 205348 is the frame number
for france the CDI is CI639 , the control box is TV-124 all restricted , the barrel is different and the RC valves system also . recently i have rebuild my top engine (at 15000 miles) and fit all the UK system (barrel+piston+rings+valves+electronics) . as i was before my top RPM was 10800 , now i have reached 12000 and i may tune my valves a bit better .

so your bike is a UK one from 1999 , no restrictions on it ! the only thing you can improve is the exhaust . you can either de-restrict it or buy a race one {1) jollymoto 402 carb , 2) gianelli , 3) arrow , in order of value/money} all £220-250 , or de-restrict your genuine . in this case your main jet which is 135 must be replace by 142 with a race exhaust and 138 with a de-restrict exhaust . you must also check if the restrictor plate is still beetween the carb & the reed valves , if yes take it off . replace the fiber reed by carbon reed . fit a sparkplug BR9EIX in cold days & BR10EIX in hot days . see https://www.sparkplugs.co.uk (£6.84 each) , for the jets see https://www.dellorto.co.uk (£2.95 each) , for the carbon reed i do not know a uk site but here i order mine https://www.blue-oil-france.com/default.php?cPath=210 (ref : 360451 about £24 inc VAT)

Thats brilliant im pretty sure it has an full arrow system on it i will try to have a look at the restrictor plate if it is still there betwwen the carb and reed valves. Btw what are reed valves and are they easy to replace if you dont have a clue about bikes. So i also need a 142 jet for my carb if i have a full arrow system. Are these easy to fit also.
