easiest way - Get a new barrel

Is it just the studs that are stripped or the actual manifold?

you can either taper it at the over diameter (7x100 for 6 , 8x125 for 7, 10x150 for 8 ) or buy special helicoïdal thread (very expensive)

Or you could just try a tap down it with loads of wd40 or even better some proper cutting compund such as rocol (i think). Depends how bad the thread really is. We have done this at work on mullered manifold threads before and has worked fine. You may have to use a die on the stud though as well.

the nut probley sezied due to rusting, so when he tryed to un-do the nut the stud extracted out of the cyclinder.

Perhaps you can drill and re-tap then re-stud with a different size stud. You will have to drill the other exhaust fitting too though. Sounds like a helicoil or timesert would be best though as the other guys say. You can get the kits yourself but if you dont use them much it may be cheaper to take to a dealer or garage / workshop and see if they can do it for you.

You can get studs with different size threads on the ends. So ya could (ferinstance) have M6 on outside for the nut & M8 screwed into the barrel.. saves fucking about with helicoils...

Yeah that would probably be easier i'll agree. Worth looking around for some on the net perhaps they may be cheaper. Just measure the one you need.
