over taking parked cars ? TEST !

If you are over taking parked cars in the street, i know you have to check over your shoulder and not to indicate, But is that the same when you have to ride on the otherside of the road ? ie cross over take and drive on the right hand side .

Just a quick question as im shitting bricks, till wednesday !

I think it'd be an odd occasion when you find a car parked in the middle of the road!

I would ask your instructor but I indicate when there are car's coming in the opposite direction and/or directly behind me, but only when it is clearly safe to do so. If I was to be crossing the central line I would indicate that I would be manouvering and do life saver as well etc. If im just moving over slightly then I would do a life saver/check mirrors etc. And wherever possible plan ahead so you can move over slowly in anticipation for this (obivously not a viable option alot of the time).

That's how I do it at the moment anyway (not done full test yet).

My instructor told me when ever you change your position in the road check over your shoulder before you move and do another shoulder check when you move back to the proper road position. He said that you should only indicate when about to overtake a car. But generally indicating is not nessesary if your passing a parked car because you might misslead other road users into thinking your taking the next right or something.

Sounds like i'm doing the right thing anyway, by doing a life saver.

Typical, its been sunny all weekend and last week, and the day before the test its chucks it down !
I'll have to quickly practice some emergincy stops tomorrow 1st thing ! , never done it in the rain before !!!!!

i was told to leave a doors width when overtaking cars, if this means going over the white line do so if nothing is coming, if a car is comin it is better to go closer to the cars door or wait for the oncoming car

You only need to indicate when going straight on if you are pulling away from the kerb, in which case you would cancel it as soon as you take up your riding position (center of lane). Secondly when you are changing lanes to the right to overtake on a multi lane carriageway. You do not need to indicate on a single carriageway as this is not your lane. You must do lifesavers however before changing position.
