Posted: 22:17 - 29 Jun 2005 Post subject: where can i get my shoei tested? |
 |
|
a couple of weeks ago, a twat did a u-turn on me and knocked me off my bike. causing £900 worth of damage to my brand new speed triple. would have been worse if i hadn't had mushrooms.
my brand new shoei raid 2 also took a bash, and though the outer skin is not cracked, but a little gouged, i'm loath to use it again for fear of the protective inner lining being compromised. can i send it to shoei for testing as i could have done with an arai. or will i just have to bite the bullet and buy another one until the whole insurance thing is sorted out? |

If it's the other party's fault and you are claiming on their insurance claim for your helmet, leathers, gloves and boots as well
Shoei don't offer an x-raying service either. Buy a new helmet and wait for the payout.
Glad you are alright though |

I'd go with Joe on this one. Make sure that the other party's insurance will cover it and go and find a real expensive new lid!
You post made me chuckle!

I had to replace an Arai after I hit a barn owl at 80mph (me, not the owl, fool ) on the A31. Apart from not wanting to clean all the blood and crap off the lid, I could feel where the liner had compressed after the impact. I was seeing stars for about 100 yards so it was quite a hit.
If I was in the situation of claiming off someone elses insurance after a crash, I'd buy the lid, keep the receipt and old lid and lob it on the bill. You might want to be sure that the driver won't be able to escape liability though, before you buy.
Cheers
