Ok, went for a ride on my kx today, while i was out i somehow managed to get a tiny hole in my exhaust, its also split about 2/3 inch's on the original seam..

What i want to know is, is this just a simple weld up job, or will i need a new front pipe? See attached pic.

No idea how i did it, just suddenly noticed it was rather loud, and didnt have as much power.

Cheer's for any help
Looney..

clean it up with a wire brush/wire brush drill bit and take it to a local garage or engineering company and they might weld it up for a pack of beers.

Looks very thin though, it may be too thin to weld and if there is lots of rust internally it may fall to peices. Might be worth having a back up plan of a new pipe just in case. Wink

If you cant afford a new pipe and the welding dosnt work then buy some of that exhaust repair tape and smother it with exhaust repair putty.
That worked fine for me!
Does look a little messy but saved me a bomb!

Good Luck

Cheer's for the replys.

No, i cant afford a new pipe for it. Have looked on the net and its £155 (IIRC) for a new FMF front pipe, and an extra £50 for the silencer. Rolling Eyes

Can't afford that atm, as im not working now.

Gonna take it to one of my dads mates that runs a garage near me, see if he'll weld it up for me.

If it goes again then then it goes, i'll look for a 2nd hand pipe for it, not seen many kx 60's around here though.. Neutral

Hey, i just fixed the exhaust for my lil 50cc pot pot bike today, the entire back box had split from the pipe section, so i bodged it up, used some exhaust putty to fill the crack run the engine to allow it to heat, then use hammerite or another heat proof paint to cover the putty.

My lil 50 runs sweet now i sorted that Very Happy
