Nah mate, just comes down to what you make out of bikes. I find what they look like doesn't matter an iota.
It's all poseability after all....isn't it?
I do agree though, it did look great and still does. You're not going to replace the exhaust are you? Only scratches on it I can see are on the bracket.... |

No mate, gonna try and get the scratches on the bracket polished out. It is still rideable, as I rode it home afterwards. As far as I can tell at the moment, it just needs new brake levers (front and back), a new mirror ('cos I hated riding it without one!), new fairing fixings and perhaps a coolant top up, although most of that stayed where it was!
I see your point about leaving it as is, but I was so pleased with it after I'd sorted everything out, I'd like it like that again. If I did leave it as it is, another low side would mean the engine casing would wear through and leave oil all over the road, which I wouldn't be too happy with. So the least I'm going to do is replace the cover or armour, whichever is easiest. ____________________ My Bikepics page

I guess that's the downside to having such a gorgeous bike. It's gonna sting if you bin it.
Good luck sorting it all back to previous shinyness though, looks like you were lucky with the exhaust bracket taking a lot of the damage. ____________________ Photos and that |

What tyres were you using?
I did a similar thing on one of them, luckily it was Honda's bike and my company paid the excess . Looks like you were going a bit faster than me.
First thing I thought when I saw the first pic was 'dodgy leathers' - then I noticed you had similar Dianese ones to the ones I have.
Dianese seem to be 'one crash' leathers - unfortunately after I bought mine I found out that places like crowtree cost about the same for made to measure as off the shelf big name brands like Dianese, but last a lot longer. |
