No. I don't believe I'm going to die each time I go out on my bike, and I try to ride in a way that makes me unlikely to as well.

I don't think your mate is hexing himself, but unless he's a really dangerous rider I do think he's a bit of a drama-queen maybe?

id say writing your blood group on your boots could well prevent you from dying and may be something we bikers should do.

I saw that in a movie where the same guys who thought it was bad luck to write blood groups on boots took out the back panels on their bullet proof vest cos they thought they wdnt get shot in the back(black hawk down) Of course they were shot in the back shortly afterwards.

I think the letter in the tank is a bit morbid but knowing it is there might keep you alive by reminding you that you could die if you dont take riding seriously and dont concentrate fully.

The fact that hes taking that kind of precaution probably means hes safe, as people who think ahead and take precautions are less likely to have accidents

id say its bad luck to not bother to get things like back brakes, and indictors fixed for the same reason its bad luck to walk under ladders

Nothing wrong with having your blood group and/or other such info. somewhere where it'll be seen quickly as that could save your life.

Hiding a letter under the petrol tank I don't even begin to see the point, who does he address the letter to as unless he managed to rip the tank off in a crash it wouldn't be seen by anyone until well after the event. Confused

Your friends name wouldn't happen to be Andy and he's not got confused between CBR's and NSR's has he? Razz

Black cat crossing in front of you. Though you can guarentee if it happens when riding down a country lane, it will turn out to be a bloody hungry panther Laughing

I carry a letter in my leathers, all the time explaining things to my parents and basically making my peace with the world, so even if i'm killed on the road, my last goodbyes don't go unsaid.

Go and donate blood - you'll find out what your blood group is and you might need it back one day!

I have my name, service number, blood group and religion on my dog tags. Also a good idea I saw somewhere was putting a contact in your mobile phone book of "ICE" which the paramedics apparently use to contact.

Big problem when I was knocked out was they wasn't sure who to contact, but cos I had "ICE" in there they used it! Thumbs Up

My two cents, anway. Smile

I'd agree with that, the ICE thing is much more useful than a letter under the tank.

Cheers

Cumbria Council have bought out a new card for motorcyclists to carry with them at all times, due to the amount of accidents and being unable to find any form of id on victims.

It includes name, telephone numbers, address, etc etc etc.

Good idea I reckon.
