I've been seeking advice for what bike to get next, since I'm going to want it to last for a good few years.
First I thought of getting a ER-5 off Damian, cheap bike, I thought insurance wouldn't be a killer but every company I've phoned wants over a grand which is stupid.
Next moving onto a RGV250. I love this bike but I need a commuter, so bye RGV250.
Then I start thinking about 400's such as RVF, CBR, GSX-R, etc... But few mates said they had 400's and after a week they was bored and wanted 600's and if you're spending all your money on it, it'd be better to go straight for a 600.
I thought I was sorted. £3,000 loan, buy a GSX-R600 and insurance along side with my current cash and done but now other mates are saying you'll just drop it because they're so powerful and you need a shitter to get used to the power.
As you can imagine, I'm proper confused now.
I got my TZR125RR which is in a right state and I'll get £500.00 tops for it.
I don't know what to do. It's a big choice for me as a bike isn't just for fun, it has to get me to work and back and I can't go wrong on this one.
I'm not made of money, and insurance is killing me at 17 with 0 NCB.
What bike? ____________________ https://www.bik3r.com |

You moan about insurance on an ER-5, then go onto say you were going to buy a Gixxer 6?
You on something?
Anyway, fact's straight:
You're gonna get screwed on insurance what ever bike at your age
You need a bike that is commuter-friendly
Got to be over 400 (Fcuk know why )
So, I'd say you'd be better off looking at a Hornet/Fazer/SV650/Bandit type thing.
Reasons:
All should be easy to fix should you bin it
All have more than enough power for your age/experience
Good fuel economy for commuting
Upright riding style - good for commuting
All still provide plenty fun at the weekend
Insurable!!!
Hope this helps. It's just my opinions of course, and it's how I would look at it.
I have an ER-5 currently, which was only used for commuting really. Now it's for sale and I'm looking for a sports 400 for fun

Ignore the ones telling you they got bored on a 400. A good rider on a 400 will leave your average 600 rider for dead.
Get a good sports 400, Put a top box on it, got to a few track days....Sorted. ____________________ https://hyperbikes.forumsplace.com/ |

A 400 is far more capable than you are at this point. Their hard work to ride compared to larger cc bikes (750 etc). But it will scare the shit out of you when you want it to. Also they're for forgiving than 600 +. 400 is plenty of power for the road regardless of riding style.
(Although I'm going to get a larger cc (600 or 750) next year as I'm geting lazy. ) |

I would still go with one of the 500 twins or perhaps something like a CB400/4. Both are plenty fast enough to get you in trouble. Doesn't get round the issue of insurance though.
Other than that you are probably looking at an older 250 4-stroke hack.
Oh, and I did suggest the GPX250 before which are honestly alright bikes if you are short on funds.
You have to be realistic about these things, You can't always afford the bike that is right for you. Not even me or I would be riding about on a BMW 1200GS
Whilst a sports 400 might be what you want just now, you might have to settle for something a bit slower/cheaper to insure until you are older and have more no-claims.
There is no shame in riding an old 250 or 400 superdream at some point in your biking career. It is virtually a rite of passage and with less than 12 months experience of riding on the road you had better not even THINK about telling me you could ride the wheels off one Fast is more about the rider than the bike. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. No it was because of detective work on my behalf.
I found out that "xios" was the deceased "Sissy/Illuzion/NeoLuke" as I had a slight suspicion it was him, Neoluke's website was "www.neoXIOS.com".
Also "xios" is the admin of bik3r.com the site of which he set up after he was banned for the 3rd/4th time.
After a couple of weeks with a suspicion I had hard evidence yesterday and I presume action was swiftly taken.
However, i'm still waiting to be employed by the MI5. ____________________ Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it.
