How long will a regulary serviced 600cc engine last?
I'm currently looking at a few bikes around the 30k miles mark and would like my next bike to be as hassle free as my last one. ____________________ Old bikes >>> https://www.bikepics.com/members/cc123/ |

Hi
How long is a piece of string. Thrashed silly from cold and the life could be quite short. Well cared for and it will last ages. Bigger problem is some of the more expensive service items needing doing (eg, shims).
Think one of the services on the newer ZX6R is (according to Kawasaki) hideously expensive as they specify replacing all the hoses (most people would not bother).
All the best

There were some group tests in one of th emotorcycle magazines last year, where they tested 4 blokes (general road riders, not editors) on GSXR600K3/4's to see if they could discover which one had done the most milage, they were all over 25000 and only one bloke got it right.
Apparently, the one with the highest milage had been riden fast everywhere and was a realy peach!
The one that had done 25000 careful miles and was never thrashed was really dodgy and felt knackered. The other three guys chose that one.
Milage isn't always a problem, it's riding style.
One careful/lady owner can sometimes means it's gunna be a ropey engine! (no offence to women there, some are a dam sight faster than me, I was refering to the typical car type private sale advert!)
Few, that's the politically correct get out of jail free card played! ____________________ TL1000R Parts For Sale! |
