Or is it? Does this kind of thing happen often? I'm new to biking, and thought I was being quite safe until..........
I'm sitting third in a queue of traffic behind a Corsa (Never a more aptly named car) at a set of roadworks lights. Even left good space between him and me.
For some reason he hits the gas and rams the Merc in front of him. Strange, I thought. Then check this, he sticks it in reverse and floors it!!!!
I start to paddle back but too slow. Tank in the gonads! I jump off the bike, and he keeps going!! He pushed the bike across a keep clear road marking that was behind me, into the car behind me. Tyres squealing and all that!!
I smashed my fist on his window shouting at him (Intended to break the window but failed) A young fella walked up, and calmly told me to ease up. He went to the drivers side, leaned through and turned the car off. Cool dude!!
Turns out he was about 80 driving an auto. He didn't even know what was happening.
After all the details were exchanged I cadged a lift off him to my office. He must be the worst driver I have ever had the discomfort of being a passenger with. As we were driving he asked me if I was involved in the accident!!! I was sitting in his passenger seat with my lid on my lap, leathers on!! I don't think he knows he ran over a motorbike.
Had to share that. I thought it was bizarre. There's me worrying about cars ramming me, cars pulling out in front of me at junctions, changing lanes on me and all that. But reversing into me!!!
Still nobody hurt. That's the main thing.
Good luck all. ____________________ Check my website. look at my profile though as putting it here would be spamming methinks (I worked hard to create it so at least look at it!) Nothing to do with bikes I might add! Might appeal to the more feminine personality. |

Don't OAP's have to re-take their test these days?
And as Bendy said, I wouldn't have got in the car with him. ____________________ "Put your hands up motherstickers, this is a f*ck up!" |

That sound f**king mental
Thought OAP's had to re-sit at the age of 70 or something like that
Why did you get in the car with him? Did he offer you sweets or was going to show you the puppies ____________________ Current; 10' Aprilia Dorsoduro 750.

OAP's don't have to re-take the test at all. They just have to re-apply for a driving licence every 3 years. Completely pointless IMO. ____________________ When A Man Loves A Chicken |

Hi
Not sure about retests. Suspect the average 60 year old is far safer than the average 17 year old, and the degradation in driving skills will vary greatly between different people.
Some 80 year olds will still be good drivers. Others would be a liability even on the footpath at 60.
A regular retest would be a bureaucratic nightmare, even if you made it every 5 years (and massive changes can happen in driving in that kind of time).
All the best

Hahaha.
I hope youre going to try and get him prosecuted or something though? If he could do that to two cars whilst at lights, imagine the danger he could potentially put kids in... Could easily kill a few people with that level of stupidity. ____________________ Yamaha SZR660 Caution to the wind, the throttle pinned! |

I never ever sit directly behind a car. I'm always to one side or the other. You never know whether someones gonna come piling in coz they haven't seen the stopped traffic and i don't want to become the filling in a tin box sandwhich!! |

the goverment dont make you take a retest as my grandad is now 80 and been driving for ages, still a safe driver though IMO.
and remember though that that driver is probable safe because its SPEED that kills right remember that. thats why the government wont make them take a retest their perfectly safe as they dont speed. |

Did he offer me sweets. Pissing myself laughing!!
I needed a lift to my office, about two miles away, and my gonads were aching. I weren't going to walk. I was also pushed for time as I had to work. It's a shit when people rely on you, you can't even have an accident without them moaning about you being late!
It was an experience being with him. When he turned the car around in the garage, I had to turn the steering wheel for him as he was going to hit a parked car!! I used to work in the garage, and my old boss was watching. It was his car the old boy was about to hit.
The bike is mashed. Fairing, handle bars, twisted forks, engine casing, indicators and a footrest as far as I can see.
A biker mate of mine thinks it's funny that all the scratches go backwards. Like how many bikes have accidents in reverse??
Do you know, I'm so stupid, I even felt sorry for the guy, cos he's got to lose his licence. It will really take away all his independance. Sod him. Better the bastard ain't on the road!! Now, cos of him, I'm back stuck in a poxy car sitting in poxy traffic.
Strangely enough, I am laughing about it. I suppose for a bike accident and to not get hurt I've got to be laughing. ____________________ Check my website. look at my profile though as putting it here would be spamming methinks (I worked hard to create it so at least look at it!)
