does everyone do this? stand next to the bike, grab the other side, front n rear, lean the bike towards you and lift it off it's wheels onto the stand so you can spin it round?

i suppose it can't be good for the stand, but i haven't broken one yet Laughing

I did it today outside a honda dealer where a girl who was obviously a newbie collecting her first bike stood amazed, her jaw almost hit the floor

I do this all the time, get some stunned looks in the middle of a packed shopping highstreet as I spun the R6 around 180 degrees Laughing

Got more inventive ways of shifting the KTM around though Wink

I would love to be there if the side stand snapped in half!

so you could help me, yes? why you are kind Wink

it would probably just land back on it's wheels, leaned against my body, so it'd be ok, until i wanted to park it

The sidestand snapped off my KTM as I spun it around outside the co-op.. DOH Laughing

It hasn't had a sidestand since for about 6 months lol, now I just find a tree/wall/lamppost to park it again Laughing

Nice race bike, bet that half an engine pumps out some power. Wink

Also, why does it say you have a ktm 525 in your sig, yet the sticker on that pic says 450 exc? Neutral

Never done it. The frames are geting so light now (read: thin), that it could do some amount of damage over time.

The 04 R1 has a flexible side stand and sometimes I wonder how it supports the bike let alone doing this! My 01 ZX-6Rs stand was much more sturdy.

I've seen them doing this at my local dealer when they are moving the bikes around, personally I wouldn't try it myself.

never tried it, don't think i want to either, it may save a bit of hassle, but its not worth having to fork out for a new stand.

(as soon as i come out of my garage i have to push it up a hill)

I've never heard or seen people doing this before, gotta try it now Twisted Evil I'll weld a brace down the sidestand it if my bike's not too heavy to do it with , sounds well handy especially since my bike is kept in the tightest most awkward space imaginable.

At the bike school i did my DA at they did this on every bike every day in order to fit them all in and out of the garage.

All the bikes were CBF500 or fazers. Didn't see any of them break so i guess it depends on the bike.

tried mine, ain't easy is it Sad the front end is very heavy and I have to yank it back to do it. Think i'll have to put weights in the side boxes to balance it.

Was thinking you could mount a roller skate wheel to the sidestand to make it easier.

Cheers,

I just grab my left handlebar and the rear grab rail and walk it around. Takes more space to do it that way but I only do it to get the ass end of the bike off the road when I'm parking it somewhere.

The bloke i bought my bike off was keen on turning the bike round by pivoting it on the sidestand. I was impressd at the time.

Since I bought it I have had to have the bit of the chassis that the stand mounts onto, rewelded.

I think there may be a connection but I cant be sure.

Its putting stresses on the bike in a way it probably wasnt designed for.

Hi

Could snap the side stand. Rather worse it could snap the side stand mount off the frame (which apparently can happen with the MV Agusta).

All the best

Keith
