In early March we should see sun Smile (the warm kind, not the cold sun that blinds you in the winter)

Has anyone tried that green gunky stuff you can get injected into your tyres so this sort of thing doesn't matter? I think that's about £20 too, innit? And it means you won't need to cough up next time it happens....

'Slime' is one of the brands, I've had it in my (inntertubed) mountain bike tyres. I wouldn't really want it in a motorbike, it'll make your next tyre change a bit dodgy (that'll probably just annoy the mechanic doing it), I doubt it's rated to repair punctures and still be used at high speed so you'll still need to get it repaired properly, but it may make the repair more difficult.

Works well in mtbs. I wouldnt trust it on motorbikes.

How good are tyre repairs out of interest? They cant be as good as a normal tyre, but can you push them and abuse them as per normal rubber? Question

My bro had slime in his BMX tyres, I skidded round a corner and the tyre popped and slime squirted all over the place, imagine if that happened on a motorbike if your front wheel skidded or something...Confused

The slime type things are only supposed to be a temp thing to get you to a proper repair. They do work tho.
As for tyre repairs, they do work and are supposd to be as good as normal tyres. The tyre manfs dont recommend them tho.

They wouldnt, there losing money by you just going out and getting your old one repaired instead of buying a brand new tyre of theirs...

Slime is tested on motorbikes, up to some high-speed too and is meant to be a permanent fix.
But all the places i've asked says it really messes up tyre changes.

you can get the equivelant for motorbikes and its tested up to 200mph as far as the reapir goes it will cost you about a tenner per hole to get fixd so you best bet would to pull the nails out and stick a tube in

Hi

Be very careful about putting a tube in a tubeless tyre. The inside of a tubeless tyre is not finished smoothly and will damage the tube. Special tubes are available so if you want to try this bodge make sure you get one of them

All the best

Theres stuff called Ultra seal tested to 165mph the seal is permenant for the life of the tire, i use it in my minimoto i was advised against this as it may offset the balance of the wheel i have had no probs at all and have no problems with the way the bike handles after using it.......i cant even notice the difference

i imagine the principal would be the same the advert for that last stuff that ultra seal said "does not affect your machines handling" but thats somthing trying to sell it the guy who told me about it offsetting the balance of you wheels and hes a slever although i can see exactly what hes saying but at the time he told me he was trying to get me to order a new tyre for the minimoto so i'd say his opinion would be a toch baised........ive never noticed the diff in the minimoto and i lashed loads in the back tyre and they are properly scaled down bikes so for the size of them it should make the same diff as it would in a big bike as ratio of size is identicle (virtually)

Sorry to dig up an old post but...

... I've just noticed a nail in my tyre. It is kind of inserted sideways so that one entry/exit point is in the middle of the tyre and the other is at the edge of the tyre. The nail looks as if it has not entered the tyre deeper than the tread at any point so i am assuming it is embedded in solid rubber and doesn't enter the inside of the tyre.

Hope that makes sense. Should I just pull it out, leave it, or get it checked?

If its not gone deeper than tread then it should be alright. I'd probably just pull it out and see what happens, but I reckon you should probably get it checked Confused
