ok today i had arguements with the family etc etc and thought id go for a ride so went to petrol station first then to this quiet straight flat nonbusy road i know and thought id try and get my best 0-60 time, as the RS has a lap timer i thought would be a laugh. this site
https://www.navero.co.uk/rs125zone/rs125.html
said it is 6.5 secs and i thought is problerbly true, the problem is that the first gear is quite long and really hard to get going and loses a lot of time, the best time i got was about 10 secs so was quite annoyed. i tryed keeping the revs in the powerband but even if you feed the clutch nice and slow and give extra throttle it still dies to 5000rpm.
any tips?btw i not trying to 'race' anyone i just want to improve my biking before anyone goes on about getting a bigger bike etc etc ____________________ 99 RS125 --> 02 SV650s --> 03 Speed Four --> 92 RXS100 --> 93 CB400sf --> 01 CB600f Hornet |

There's your problem. You need to control both the clutch and the throttle at the same time.
The ideal get away on such a bike I find is usually starting with the revs just below the redline.
As you let the clutch out, don't let the revs go more than 1.5k below the red line. You do this by opening the throttle a bit more and not letting the clutch out too far.
As your speed increase you may need to open the throttle a bit more and should be letting the clutch out in proportion to your speed.
I would advise starting with the revs at say 8 or 9k to get used to it first - letting 30hp (or whatever) kick out the back wheel at the wrong time aint always a good idea . |

Hi G i can set of fast as you say , just below the redline so powerband comes in as soon as i let the clutch out
i got told this would burn my clutch
is this true? if so i might stop ____________________ Being shot out of a cannon will always be better than being squeezed out of a tube. That is why God made fast motorcycles |

Do it on a 600 sports bike and it does tend to.
Not nearly as much of an issue on a 125 though. Clutches are easy to replace as well .
It's best not to do it everysingle start (though I did when I had various 125s and never had to do replace clutch plates ), but shouldn't be much of an issue to do occasionaly. |

cheers G, i thought i should as i was about 9000rpm so quite easy for the revs to get out of the powerband, i think 11000rpm ill try and try and get the clutch and thottle in a smoth slow motion (what you said really)
also what you said about everytime is true, i dont have need to do it its just wanted to get some good times 0-60 wise and be able to start fast if i need to eg, react to something happening while road driving ____________________ 99 RS125 --> 02 SV650s --> 03 Speed Four --> 92 RXS100 --> 93 CB400sf --> 01 CB600f Hornet

You do have to be 'dynamic' and make sure that you are adjusting your hands at the right point.
It may help to keep an eye on the tacho (please remember to look up as well though ) - once you are used to it though, you can do it mostly from 'feel'. |

hey andy i dont know if this helps but this is what i do
*blip the throttle at about 6-7 though
*slowly release the clutch then fully open the throttle and let clutch out and power band comes in straight away as i opened the throttle on the biting point of the clutch
if that makes sense
And cheers G i dont do it every start just on sunny days when im happy and have filtered to front of traffic ____________________ Being shot out of a cannon will always be better than being squeezed out of a tube. That is why God made fast motorcycles |
