Hi,
my bike nowadays revs up madly to about 5-6Ks on neutral or on clutching. Especially after its warmed up sufficiently. I hit the kill switch around this range or switch into gear and pull out, so i dont know how high it will rev till.

why could this be?

thanks

if you use no throttle in gear, what does it do?

your idle speed is probably to high

I doubt it's his idle speed that's the problem since it requires a decent amount of turning to get it idling that high and the problem sounds like it popped up, more or less. Sounds like a manifold leak to me...

its not the idle speed. I have the idle speed properly.
And i think this happens mostly only after it has run for sometime..

Can someone pease explain what a sticky throttle mean? I know that my throttle is slightly loose and I have about 1/8th of a turn oh the throttle thats loose.. and it moves the slider-thingy on the carbs only after that.

Manifold leak? You mean the carb rubbers? would cause raised revs?

Yep an air leak in the carb rubbers between the carb and the head would cause it to over rev alarmingly. If your carbs attach to the head directly, I'd change the gasket as it may be torn. Best not to ride it until the problem is sorted as if you do have an air leak, the mixture will be lean causing the engine to run hot.

what exactly is throttle sticking? as i mentioned earlier in the thread, i have about 1/8th of a turn play in the throttle cos the wire is loose. could this cause revs?

and wont air leak cos it to run rich? and not lean?

It's a leak in the sense that extra air is being sucked in, not blown out.

Anyhow, a sticky throttle means literally that your throttle sticks when it's released. The cable is obstructed somehow, holding the engine at higher rpms. If your cable is frayed at either end then the threads can jam up inside the cable casing, preventing proper smooth travel.
