I know I have and I'm not proud of it at all.
On the way home from work about 2 years ago in the drizzle when it was getting dark I overtook a car and went strait over a zebra crossing that people were crossing at the time.
I didn't see them and I wasn't close at all to hitting them, though I still felt physically sick afterwards.
I do consider myself to be a very good rider and all my mates think so, though I guess we all have momentarily lapses.
I know this board is good enough to not judge me for the above, so I hope you can all feel free to share your tales. ____________________ Shaft drives rule. |

Just yesterday I discovered that some vehicles are invisible...
A dark blue convertible approaching at speed against the backdrop of a dark green hedge, followed by a large white van going slowly, completely caught me out. What my problem really was was not observing properly. I got about 2 feet out of the (blind) junction before the 'Oh fuck!!! ' reflex made me brake. ____________________ I must not be a troll...

my biggest fault is leaving my indicator on
turned left out of a road a few months back and carried straight on
saw a car about to pull out onto the main road and rode on my merry way realised after i had rode past the junction that my left indicator was still on
and thought if he had pulled out then it would have been my own fault.
i've done that a few times |

went round a round about today. It wasnt perfectly round, as i went round the gentle bit my peg wentdown, the roundabout studdenly tightened up with cars entering to my left. I had to ease the weight off the peg and lean further only just getting away with it.
Makes me think about all those times i've gone flying into a corner fully committed and how badly things could have turned out if there had been gravel, cow shit, a horse, car or another bike.
I try not to think about it because whenever i do i lose all desire to ride a bike again. |

Comming round a wet corner in my car. Going to fast and car started going in a straight line raither than around the bend and headed towards the pavement.
If I hadnt of let go of the brakes and let the engine do the brakeing, Id of probably hit the curb...
Again...

For me it's taken a few 'minor' smashes to learn my lesson.
I think you need that in your life for 'long-term' self preservation, even if you do do abit of damage in the process. For the guys/gals that havn't had a spill (in a car or on a bike) I hope it doesn't hurt too bad when it happens. |

Back when I had a car I had just come through the Tyne Tunnel and was heading up towards the Silverlink roundabout on the A19. It was still a long way to the roundabout and I must have been on another planet because I suddenly realised that there was a huge queue for the roundabout about 100 yards in front of me and I was doing about 80mph... there was no way I could have stopped so by reflex I swerved into the outside lane to avoid the queue - if there had been traffic in both lanes it could have been very messy ____________________ Monster m600
