Unlucky mate, the fairing can easily be fixed with some fibre glass matting (done it to mine a week ago and looks really good ) just take the fairing off and tape it up on the outside, trying to get it as tight as you can and then paste the fibre glass on the inside, 20 mins later and should be good may require a bit of wet and dry though to get ot looking really good.

Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

How are you feeling now mate? Get home ok?

Get an early night and have a nice hot bath cos you are gonna ache tomorrow!

Anyway, could have been a lot worse and the bike is not really that damaged.

Next time look through the bend and not at the kurb you are hurtling towards Thumbs Up Wink

looks like the RG crash protector did a good job
respect to r4nger for giving a big smile, id be looking all shocked, dazed and confused
I remember r4nger talking about the thundercat he was gonna buy, when i was at hex's bbq so its gd to see him with it, even if its slightly modified.

i hope u lot he was riiding with werent going too fast for him, he hasnt had it long so u shdnt expect him to keep up at fast pace. I know i take more risks when im keeping up and I shd hold back rather than go faster than i can handle.

I think letting the slowest rider go in front is a good idea.

We were going at a reasonable pace but there is never any pressure for anyone to keep up. Whenever someone lags behind we always wait for them.

The guy picking me up rags the nuts of the vans and he races bikes etc so I got home for 7-8pm while getting lost abit and sitting behind a 1970's caravan and car for a few miles up the A21. My dad does not want me to biking anymore so I will have to continue without his "permission" until I kill myself Razz

A big thanks for the pint and for all you guys waiting! It makes me all warm inside. RAC did a fantastic job for the second time, a phone call to say the ETA, a phone call to see if I am okay and to tell us there is a pub 300 yards up the road, a phone call to say the flatbed was on my job and another to say he was 2 minutes away. He came to me from central london!

Btw, I found a U.S. site that sells cheap hardened engine casings ($80): https://www.factorypro.com/
If your going to order from there tell me, I need the same casing too
Embarassed so we might as well save on postage.

They are designed to bend, if they didn't then they would cause engine/frame damage.

I wasn't there, but I doubt anyone expected him to 'keep up'.

Hold back then, if other people don't wait for you at an appropriate place, then I wouldn't ride with them Smile.

I think it's a bad idea for a 'fun' ride out myself.
Some enjoy riding slowly, I don't and my bike doesn't do it very well.
Also some slower riders can stay within their limits when behind others, but still enjoy it more and go faster than they might if they were 'leading'.

I see a ride out as a 'fun' activity, I don't find riding slowly fun.
I don't have a problem with waiting for slower people once I've had my fun however.

My thoughts can be found here:
https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=24772

In my opinion it's up to the people riding to ride to thier limits.
At least, at this point, they found thier limts without injuring themselves.

Exactly, I was leading most of the way up until Hastings whilst we were making reasonable/fastish progress I did my best to keep a count of bouncing headlights in the mirrors, and if we were one short we slowed down or pulled over to wait.

Whilst we did make a few jokes about people keeping up with each other there was no pressure to, as we were happy to wait, (e.g. I can carry on destroying my lungs - damn duty free fags).

I believe putting the slowest/inexperienced rider up front to be a bad idea, as it can put more pressure on them (e.g. with the navigating, setting the pace) and can make them make a silly/dangerous mistakes in order to keep the people behind them happy.

I think the order should be, at the front the one with the best navigation skills, the rest in the middle, and the tail end charlie should be the one also familiar with the route and armed with a bit of mechanical knowledge/tools, then if need be the riders in the middle can pair up with other riders of similar experience/skill.

Hope that makes sense

Dave
