Welcome
I bet when you're doing U turns and you think you're heading for the kerb you look at it, don't you? In this sort of situation, you generally end up heading where you're looking, so if you make a point of looking up the road where you want to go, you'll find yourself naturally heading that way.
Rather than landing on your arse all the time, maybe you should practise in a car park, pretending the white lines are kerbs? ____________________ Monster m600

I had a helluva job doing U-Turns before my test. I used to wobble like mad just as I started the straight-line pull-off bit. Then, as I started to turn, every single muscle in my body would tense up and I just couldn't do 'em
My instructor told me to relax completely, stop looking at where I was going and focus on where I want to be at the end of the turn.
It took loads and loads of practice. Throttle on, slipping clutch and rear brake control. Eventually I could do U-Turns as easily as 'point-and squirt'
Don't have to do them now I've passed my test, but I always like having a go just to keep a bit of practice in

Enjoy your trip on the crazy train.
At least after you pass your test you'll never have to do a u turn again. |

First things first.. I'm a she, not a he. I just checked
I'm planning on getting a ZZR600 (was considering a 400 but it being a grey import I'm not too confident I'd find bits easily enough). I'm looking at a second hand bike as well.. it's looking likely that I'll drop it at some point and I'd be really peeved if it was a new one Anyhow, I've heard it's a good bike for short-arses, which I am
As for u-turns, bleurgh. It's exactly what was said.. I do look at the curb, and that's when I smack right into it. I can do u-turns, but only when I'm not concentrating on doing em. Typical women drivers.. Thanks for the tips tho.. will defo work on em!
Cheers for the warm welcome! ____________________ .: when the going gets weird, the weird turn pro :. |

Cheers Acidburnz.. might have to harrass ya with lots of questions! What's your insurance like if you don't mind me asking? (This will be my first bike, after having just passed my test, fingers crossed, so I'm expected to get crucified..)
And don't worry Old Geezer.. ya get three strikes and *then* you're out ____________________ .: when the going gets weird, the weird turn pro :. |

Ok, no probs.
Area A (cheapest insurance )
Age 23
2 years NCB
Held full car license for 5 years
Full bike license year and a half
1993 ZZR600 e model valued at £1000
Parked on private driveway
Disk lock and chained
TPFT - £350 (£200 excess and 45 days EU cover, I'm also insured to ride any other motorcycle )
Hope this helps.

Cheers for that.. it's given me some sorta guideline and now I know I'm defo going to get shafted for insurance I'm 23 as well but this will be my first bike, I doubt my area is classed as 'A' in any shape or form and although I've held a full car licence for 5 years, I learned to drive in Greece and have never had a car here or been on any insurance policies here.
Ah well, ya gotta smile I'll just have to put it on the credit card and be really careful not to smack into anything heheh
Thanks again, helpful info! ____________________ .: when the going gets weird, the weird turn pro :. |

Ozzy or the FLC cover?
I like both but Ozzy wins. |
