your confidence should build up again after time, just take it steady and don't push yourself. You will do it without knowing soon

You will get your confidence back.

I had an accident at a junction last October and was nervous when travelling through junctions for a while after. Wondering whether cars were going to pull out etc.
However as time has gone on my confidence has returned.

With regard to cornering I would suggest practicing some corners you know and regularly travel on that are on quite roads.

Is it left handers right handers or both that bother you?

Try this

Get a couple of mates
Lean you bike over until the pegs touch the ground.
Now stand back and take a good look
That's how far your bike will lean perfectly safely on a decent surface. Thumbs Up

Take it easy and build up gradually, take a good ride and a few roundabout laps, just put faith in your tyres and it will come back to you in time.

Simple answer is no, you probably won't ever be as confident, however you might get more skillful which will cancel out this problem.

When I crashed the NSR, first time the back tyre slid out, second time the front slid. As you can imagine, this really destroyed my confidence in leaning the bike.

Fortunatley though, over time, confidence does come back. Through practice, learning what I actually can do on the bike, I'm regularly leaning the bike over further than I've ever done, after two crashes.

You'll get your confidence back mate Smile.

I seem to be one who gets up, dusts myself off and carries on riding if I come off. Obviously if its serious then I can't do that, but both times I have come off, front wheel went first time, ended up under a car, and second time last rear wheel. The first time I couldn't exactly carry on because the bike was in a sorry state, but if it had been ridable, then I would of jumped right back on it again. The second time I came off, while cornering, rear came out and just went, lost it and hit the deck. Bike was unscathed, and I just went away again. To be honest things like that don't faze me at all. If it was something like hitting another car then yeah it may put me off a bit, but loosing the back end etc I'm perfectly fine with that.

Obviously you had a very serious case of loosing the back end, and suffered badly from it. What you should do mate is ease yourself into your confidence, don't go leaning right into the corners like you did, just gradually get lower and lower til you feel safe. Thats the best way. I'm sure you'll be flicking it into corners in no time mate. Thumbs Up

Methinks if you study and concentrate on working your way toward proper cornering technique you should have no problem overcoming your anxieties. imho, the less you think about the problem and the more you think about the solution, the better your results will be.

While it may give confidence, that is not the case.

Ground clearance is a lot lower when you have a rider compressing the suspension along with the centrifual/petal forces.

This could be a call for a quite roundabout, where you've got good visibility etc. Start with a smallish one so that you're well within the bike's limits.

So you know what you did wrong and you've the opportunity to learn from it.

As said above I've always been told the worst riders always can tell you exactly the spped they binned it. Now you know why, their eyes were looking in the wrong place.

Don't worry about it, take things at you're own pace.

You are getting good advice here.

Each time you go out on the bike it will get a little easier, and you will get a little better.

If you need to slow down a bit and corner more upright for a while, so what? Some of us ride like that all the time! Embarassed And at least you're out on your bike, and enjoying the ride! Thumbs Up

Practice, practice, practice, but don't push it too hard til you feel ready. Only you will know when that is.
