I've had my Gixxer 6 for just over a year now, it's the first 'big' bike i've ever had. But i'm going through an experimental stage now and I'm up for trying it something new. So bearing in mind i've never ridden another big bike, out of the following choices, what would you choose and why? Are there any you would go out of your way to avoid? If so, why?

Arrow R6
Arrow Kwak Ninja ZX-6R
Arrow Newer shape Gixxer 6
Arrow Ducati 748

The new zx6 is very good and well recommended but the best way to judge them is to test ride them all as all the straight 4's are all very good, never ridden a duke so cant comment. Thumbs Up

Imo, apart from the Ducati the rest are too similar to make it worth changing bikes for.

None of the above.

If you want to try something new, go for a completely different style.

Try a supermoto, or a big trailie. Have a go on a big cruiser. Ride a lorry (sorry Goldwing!). Get a little 2-stroke race-replica that you can rev the life out of.

The possibilites are endless. Why go to what is essentially the same bike with a slightly more powerful engine?

Live a little! Thumbs Up

Are they really that similar in riding style then, the sports 600s? I'm asking as I have no experience on any other sports bike.

Appreciate the advice babyyam, but I only really like the whole 'sports bike' thing, not really interested in supermoto's/cruisers tbh, but thank you anyway Thumbs Up

I prefer cruisers to road bikes, nothing stopping you selling it 2 months down the line if it's not your thing and getting another crotch rocket. Plenty cruisers out their that can also handle corners pretty well.

My bike seems to like power higher up, doesn't like low revs, but as I've nothing to compare it to, i'm presuming thats a normal thing? It 'looks' quite chunky and dated now also. There's not much I don't like about it, but just want to try something newer.

As far as sports 600s go, the second burst of power usually kicks in higher up the rev range when the ram air comes into play. My CBR gets a second lease of life around 8k.

My mate's got a GSXR6 K5 and loves it to bits, so if you want a newer bike, why not just get a newer GSXR?

Definitely an option mate. My birthday's in November, so looking to treat myself then. Not the bet time of the year to be getting used to a new big bike though admittedly Thinking

Why not try a big bike, Suzi 1400, Yam 1300, Busa, Blackbird, ZX12R, CB 12 that sort of thing?

Test ride everything that you can get your grubby little mitts on, then test ride some more. Every bike has something to offer, you may find that a type of bike that you'd never even considered is perfect for you.

Cheers

Yeah thats normal for most / all in line 4's.

Try the brutal low down grunt / torque of a big V-Twin e.g Ducati, Aprilia RSV. If you want to stick to 600s the SV650s are V-Twins but will be slower than your current bike.
