Some of you might remember me going on about doing up the NS125r that i got from someone on this forum... Well its almost done. I took it for an MOT on monday although it failed because the front brake pulsed and made the bike shake when you brake Twisted Evil . I'm in the process of fixing it now (the caliper wasnt floating properly, damn rust!) but some new rubbers and seals on monday should sort it out)

BEFORE

This is only a few days after i got the bike...

AFTER

I have done the following...

Arrow New Front brakes, pads, braided lines. New rear shoes. New chain and sprokets, new front fork seals, new rear shock and all the bushings.
Arrow Powder Coated wheels white again
Arrow It has a new frame (hence the different numberplate) which i have sprayed dark gray (original colour)
Arrow New tires front and back
Arrow I repaired all the damage to the panels with fiberglass, filler and lots of sanding! The biggest repair was on the seat cover on the back but it turned out okay (see photo).
Arrow I resprayed all the panels using an airbrush.
Arrow Fitted a Datatool system 3

I've not quite finished it yet. The front panels need buffing more as they are still a little dull, i need to get all the decals (sugestions welcome as from honda they are about £130). New mirrors so they are both red Smile I'm getting the seat recovered (and the bit on the front of the seat panel) and thats about it i think.

All in all its taken me about 2/3 months although a lot of that time was spent getting all the bits i needed.

I stripped it down to this point first:

https://show.imagehosting.us/show/573168/24822/user_24822/T1_24822_573168.JPG

It stayed this way until i got all the bits for it. It took me one day to transfer the engine and all the bits from one frame to the other and to fit all the new parts. Then its taken about 2-3 weeks (evenings and sundays) to prepare, spray and finish all the panels. Because i did all the work myself its only cost me for the parts, paint, sandpaper etc. Its worked out about £300-£400 (this includes everything including mots etc).

This bike will be up for sale in a couple of months. I'm looking for about £900. It is well worth it. Apart from the front brake (which will be sorted by monday) this bike rides as if it was brand new. It reaches 70mph without any problems and goes on until 90 (it still had some left as well), it handles suprisingly well (even with brand new tires) and as you can see from the photos - you won't see one in this good nick unless you search very hard!

Opinions?? Very Happy

Ps. there are more photos if people want them (i can email)

Yeh, the engine runs fine. Kicks 1st time (even from cold). It overheated (well the needle went up) yesterday although i was stuck in traffic and it was about 35deg! Other than that with the new shocks and brakes it handles excelently.

Nice job. Thumbs Up

Have a look on ebay for people selling sticker kits, or google about a bit as there are quite a few places online that'll certainly do you the Honda logos and bits.

you have done a great job there mate, i am in the process of doing one exactly the same, new engine, fork seals, new tyres & wheels powder coated. i have just started painting the panels and was wondering if you could offer any advice. i have never painted before and the finish i have is a bit dull and orange peelish, what is the cause of the problems and can it be fixed without sanding down again??
cheers

nick

Looking mint now, she will be a corker once you get those final minor issues sorted. All the hard work has paid off.
