I understand that for a UK bike it's an upgrade to have an Italian CDI ?

Just to note, this is the CDI markings. C1572 1.2 071

I got one off an Italian NSR125RK 1990. And my Bike is a UK 1999 NSR 125R.

Will it be compatible? Also I know That the CDI may be dead after a few miles.

What wires will I have to swap around or Remove??

Please Help asap!!

Italian and UK NSRs have the same CDI units (CI626), but French and other imports have different CDIs (CI639). Check your CDI, if it says CI626, it isn't restricted and you don't need to worry about it Very Happy

It is the other way round, Italian bikes had restrictions in the CDI, UK bikes do not.

As above CI626 is a derestricted unit.

Mine doesn't and neither do a lot of the early Italian imports Smile

The best person to ask is alains, he can tell you what you have on the bike by giving him your frame number.

you cannot put a JC20 CDI unit on a JC22 wiring is different ! as i said for a while electronics has been modified by HONDA in 1993 . it's nothing to improve on electronics if you have on your bike a CDI unit CI626 and a R/C valves control unit TV-78 which are unrestricted . about what you were thinking about crossing wires on the CDI , it's only when you change a French (CI639) by a uk or italian .
