Got a bit of a problem, I've got a ER-5 but haven't taken my test yet. I want to get some practice in before my test at the end of September but obviously I cannot ride the thing legally on the roads. Where can I ride the bike legally? there's a carpark at the end of the back lane from my house, can I push my bike down to that and then ride around it on there? |

You should be able to ride anywhere that is private land and you have the owners permission.
Supermarket carparks are good (that's where I learned to ride) but you must ask and the carpark should be closed whilst you are on it.
Find out where your local training school do their off-road stuff, you may be able to use that.
Old airfields are also good if there are any near you, and gated industrial estates too.
It's useful if you have someone who can take you to a suitable site pillion on your bike, or access to a trailer! ____________________ Sod falling in love, I wanna fall in chocolate. |

Pushing the bike to the carpark, is also illegal AFAIK.
I was stopped by plod taking my ER 50 home a few years ago, they said that if you have no licence/insurance ect, you were not allowed to move the bike, it has to be trailered.
They let me push it the rest of the way home though, so they might have been talking bollocks.. |

How much did it cost you to insure an ER5 without a license?
Hmmm... I just went through Bennetts with my details as an unlicensed rider, and the quote was £5379! You sure your insured for it? |

The carparks are subject to traffic law as far as I know. The road markings, roundabouts and giveways make them flow much more efficiently. As such, you need to have the right documentation etc, so long as they are open to public access. ____________________ I must not be a troll...

you cannot ride it anywhere where that is a public highway, i suggest you find an industrial estate, or abandoned airfield.. always a safe bet but remember if there are streetlights there its proboably illegal to drive there without a licence
