weeeeeeeeelll ,

was fiddling about with the R6 tonight , as you do , took the pillion pegs and end can off for some intense cleaning type stuff and ....well.....the bike looks ace with no can and pegs Very Happy

so heres the question.... as the bike is shockingly loud without a can .... anyway to have a can hidden in the bellypan of the bike.

thus having a silenced-ish bike but with the clean look that no pegs and can brings ??

i have absolutely no idea how to do something like this...although im sure it must be do-able aint it ??

any ideas gratefully recieved

jonny

Doubt it, unless you can hide the same amount of exhaust pipe hidden between the engine and fairing. I've read that the exhaust manifold is a specific length to help it run correctly blah de blah blah.....*insert some technical waffle about back pressure and engine talk*

I doubt it would be feasible, even on your salary.

If there room i suppose you could just doa bodge job by cutting a section of the pipework out and wealding the connecting bit ofpipe onto the new end and thus attaching a new stubby can...go for an oval one and put it flat ways then you may have less chance of scrapeing it...
i wander if a custom exzaust company would (depending on your engine configuration) to fit "mini cans" to each down pipe on the way down...i dont know if that describes it well enough, and it could also obstruct the radiator.
just brain storming...

Underseat exhaust, about the closest you can get to a hidden pipe.

I was looking into this. (must be a tart thing? Wink)

Closest idea I got was to cut the pipe back a litttle to just where it comes out of fairing and fit a baffle in there. Apparently they make the baffles for drag pipes which will work.

"Closest idea I got was to cut the pipe back a litttle to just where it comes out of fairing and fit a baffle in there. Apparently they make the baffles for drag pipes which will work."

That would be noisey as hell, and the baffle in pipe would redice the pipe diamiter and thus choke the engine...if you had it so the pipe got wider before the baffle then the baffle could have the same diamiter as the pipe's smallest part, but again the cone would be an amplifier and could make it even more noisey!

as i said if you find a custom can shop maybe they can make something to keep the noise down but not be restrictove and beable to hide it in the fairing...

there were a few bikes at the BB with no endcans but they had a db killer type tube inside the pipe which was stamped "speedproducts" on the CBR600F,s the exhaust was completely hidden under the belly pan.

Seach through R1 Lad's/Pauls created threads! In one it says the exhaust had been stolen and where it was purchased from in the USA!

you can get Db killers of ebay for 99p, they fit 2" cans so might fit in the pipe.

does the R6 have a EXUP valve? if so make sure it is,nt part of the link pipe or this will not work.

Hi

Suspect knocking 6" off the length of the exhaust will have some fairly strange effects on the power delivery.

All the best
