arrow pipes are made from mild steel and rust like hell, paint it black with exhaust paint like VHT.

Good choice on the Arrow, they sound miles better than the JL imo, and everyone on the aprilia forum and 125ccsb has JL's. Good to see your not being a sheep and following the crowd.

Well mine's not. It's stainless at worst and titanium at best (don't actually know 'cos I bought it second hand).

Get down to motorworld or B&Q and get some heat-proof paint, it may even be labelled as barbeque paint in B&Q, not sure tho. Either way, it will definitely prolong your exhaust's life, especially with winter approaching.

thats because yours is a full system for a four-stroke not a two stroke expansion pipe. Rolling Eyes

VHT is a areosol based engine/exhaust spray paint.

Even if you paint it, you'll need to keep repainting it.

not if he does a good job and the right number of coats and thickness of those coats. from experance with rusty two-stroke pipes its better to paint them when the steel is new and clean not after you,ve ground shit loads of rust off.

Not a bad exhaust, i felt it gave a decent midrange boost in conjunction with a V-force3 reed block, definitely get it painted though, especially with the winter coming.

VHT paint is available in most bike shops for about £8. No primer needed, you just rub it back to the metal if needed and put on a few coats. Excellent stuff, helped me sell my 2 stroke. Its a spray paint, so you have to mask off areas.

5 coats with half an hours drying time in between each coat should keep it good for 6 months, but honestly I wouldn't worry until you see it deteriorating (sp), if you take good care of it I'd imagine it will be OK for quite a while.

Define "better" imo the Arrow looks better, sounds better and no one has done a back to back dyno shootout so you cannot say the JL makes more power.

I don't care about rusting, paint it and keep your bike clean and you wont have that problem.

jl looks better & sounds better to me. People who've had an arrow & jl say the jl makes more power.

If it did make more power it would be about 0.5hp more at the very most, and they have no way of telling it makes 0.5hp more power. Someones not going to spend £250 on a JL and say it makes less power now are they?

When I said that about a cbr250, you said people will admit to owning something that aint brilliant. So will they tell the truth about something they've bought or not?

The torque increase may start lower in the rev range with the jl, providing more accessible power, whereas the arrows may produce the arrows may be more effective at high revs. Anyone had experience with both systems? The peak power on a piece of paper gives no indication as to the rideability and feel of the bike.

Discussing the faults and problems with a bike you've bought is a bit different than spending £250 on an exhaust and lieing about it.

Jack Cheese - The JL is actually meant to be a more sporty/racey pipe and the power is more top end orientated, the arrows is a bit tamer and delivers more midrange. I do understand about power delivery you know. Wink
