Anyhoo, I never tried to imply that the RVF was the fastest bike in the world...and if both bikes are essentially the same, why do people (i.e. racing people) like to swap parts about? (i.e. carbs, engines, etc)

They are the same pedigree though...

Not if you get a big-bore kit - then you'll have four hundred and forty, er, four cubes...Rolling Eyes Razz

...and as Kevo says, it's not about straightline speed, but corner speed...having said that, I don't exactly have the ability or confidence to chuck the RVF around to it's full potential Embarassed

Hey, if I can make it to Santa Pod on a January day, two up, from Newcastle upon tyne, setting off at lunch time then you soft southern wufters can make it to York (or just outside)! Razz

The track is great with fanntastic grip. No Cars and the added bonus of getting your bike flat out for over a mile without fear of blue lights.

Do it because if you don't you will only doing yourself out of some major fun.

I promise, it's awesome... Wink Cool

The problem is I get bored on motorways far too quickly, which means I would probably end up testing out my top speed when there *is* blue lights around Confused

Calling a busa a tourer is very unfair, considering you can carry shit all luggage on the damn thing and the seating position isn't exactly Blackbirdesque! Razz At 80mph on a 'Tourer' like the Busa is just as much of a pain in the ass as 80mph on a 250 is, believe me.

Boring straight motorways. Cars everywhere and miles of tedium. Its the same for both bikes.

The motorways are only a means to an end. If I could move the track to suit everyone I would but that isn't going to happen.

So what is classed as a silly distance? I thought owning a motorcycle was all about adventure. Wink If you want to do the day you'll do the miles. Hell it's not like you have to pedal there or something! Laughing

At the age of 18 I rode 525 miles in 11 hours on a CB125T Superdream so don't give me the 'We're so hard done by on our distance unfriendly race reps' routine. Razz

Stop being a bunch of soaking wet shandy drinkers and get yer arses in the saddle. The trip is worth it just for the pleasure of kicking your mates ass on the 1/4 and the flyer.

I have a tenner riding on Evil Bendy beating Craig19T on both counts. (if they show). I am doubling it up on G beating Zimma! Laughing

Go on, you know you want to... Wink

Just the cost to start with... I spent at least £30, probably more like £40 for petrol to santa pod and back. It's going to be a pertty expensive day to elvington (though I could down-gear it which would help Confused)

Well the southern posse are welcome to stop at our house if you want to come up the day before, then its around 40 miles to make the journey to Elvington. Might be a bit cramped mind you coz its only a small house (bungalow) but it is an option.
