After a slight mishap with the NSR here's my price list to fix it.

L/h lower fairing = £75.53
L/h upper fairing = £34.82
L/h rear Fairing = £51.91
L/h grille = £34.08
Back wheel = £179.21
VAT = £71.22
P&P = £5.50
TOTAL = £446.77

Plus need 2 new indicators = say £20.00
Plus £16.00 to swap tyre over
Plus £5.00 to touch up front wheel scrape
Plus odds and sodds
Plus second hand air induct as honda don't sell it £20.00

= grand total of...Drum roll... £507.77 Sick
------------------------------------------------------------------

Now the question is should I claim?

I have FC insurance, but being only 20 what will it do to my premiums next year?

I currently insure:
the bike FC: for £560
the car TPO: for £760

I got fully comp, as if I road into someone else, and they claimed off my insurance, I would be just as well claiming for my bike; But since no one else is involved I'm not sure what to do!

ADVICE PLEASE! Thumbs Up

you have any NCB? you would lose it instantly. just slowly replace all the parts yourself

fix it yourself , if you claim you lose NCB and your insurance next year will be in low earth orbit.

For me if i claim & his insurance pays for it it won't add a penny on what i pay next year,

Had a claim on tpo, His fault so i claimed got £500 & doesn't add on a penny as i've been getting quotes saying i've had 2 claims. But then if i say my insurance paid for the damage it goes sky high!

yes but he said nobody else was involved, hence no other party to claim from.

Hi

Claiming "saves" you £500 now but will cost you that over the next couple of years in extra premiums. Added to which you probably have an excess of a few hundred pounds.

Not worth claiming.

However those prices seem quite cheap for bodywork.

Personally fix what you have to fix then keep an eye on Ebay for the other parts to turn up cheaply.

All the best

Keith

Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

Hears my current insurance record.

Arrow 20 years and 6 months old. No claims. No accidents. No Points

Arrow Driving since 07/2003 got car 01/2004

Arrow Ride an NSR as of 05/2005

Arrow First year the premium for the car was £1450

Arrow Second years premium for the car £760

Arrow Got the bike in May 2005 paid £560 for FC insurance with no NCB.

Arrow Separate insurance companies...no claims ever

--------------

Crashed bike on Wednesday, landed on my head, cosmetic damage a plenty. No mechanical damage, apart from chunk out of back wheel right on the rim. Now out of pocket buy £500 and will still have a scraped front wheel?

Been told that whilst I have no NCB to lose, a claim alone would be enough to send both premiums rocketing?

What do I do?

Question Confused Question Confused Question Confused

Hi

Glad you could make a decision that you are satisfied with. Rear wheels should be easy to find 2nd hand (it is the fronts people bend on the side of cars).

I know about David Silver Spares but those prices really do surprise me. I am getting given an old NS125F so I may even consider buying new bodywork for it (dodgy metallic maroon paintwork at the moment).

All the best

Keith

How can you check that there is nothing is misaligned (even slightly) after a crash. e.g. forks / frame /swing arm?
I rode it at 95mph after the crash, and it all seemed the same?
Is there somewhere you can send it to have a quick check over, or would you just say if everything looks and feels ok then it probably will be?

-------
Back wheels I rang about second had always seem to be in bad nick, with scratches or paint coming off, and you never know, it might be buckled.

I want the bike to look mint again, and since you only have 2 wheels on a bike, I don't consider £200 to be so terrible for a spangly new wheel.

Note: The parts get about 25% off if you don't mind waiting for the discount (2-3 delivered). e.g. The cost of the L/H lower fairing is about £100, or if you don't mind waiting for it £75

Unfortuantely it's rarely worth going FC until you've got a fair bit of no claims.

Ooo never thought of that G!

Bad luck mate, have a hunt around some breakers, on eBay, etc, see what you can pick up on the cheap.

Too late, have ordered the stuff above.

I want it back to the state it was in 'pre-crash.'

Besides, if I spend £500 now it will keep the value at about the 2k mark, whereas if there's even the slightest mark on it that could drop to £1500. Provided I don't come of it again I'm not at a loss.

However, if anyone has a VGC grill (l/h) I'll have it of them.

sparkie, id check if the forks are not bent. if the bike hit the curb or something they most likely will be, my spill the other week was only at 20mph but it turned the forks out 3 inch either way.

i take it you wont be at squires on wed night then?

Arrow How to check?

Visually they are fine.

Also when I pushed it up to 95 on the motorway on the way back it seemed ok? If you look down them they seem fine, and they compress ok. The only thing is that the left grip now goes about 3-4mm closer to the tank than the right, but I think this is just the stopper piece on the bottom yolk that had had a knock?

If I can get an indicator of some description, and give the bike a check over and a bit of duct tape (Untill I get the parts). I don't see why I shouldn't be at squires on Wed. (if not I'll go in the car).
