Use something with high alcohol other wise it will be damp and under perform for ages.
I used my mates compressed air tool to blast it through.

Assuming it's the foam type (you did say squeeze).
Rinse and clean out using petrol (a small bowl helps).
Then leave to dry.
Then get some new oil and soak this through the foam. Sqeeze out any excess, you don't want it dripping. The oil is there so that any muck sticks to it and doesn't end up in the carbs.

If it's the folder cardboard/paper type then these can be cleaned out using an air line/compressor. However, easily damaged and so sometimes not worth the hassle. If available often easier to just get a new one of these types (only clean if not available).

FWIW for servicing, Hein Gericke do an offer of oil, oil filter and air filter. If there's one near you might be worth a try, although check first as they don't always have the filters (but you can get for another bike under the same deal!).

HTH Thumbs Up

I use warm soapy water and then rinse it through before hanging it on the washing line whilst i do the service and check up,, usually find it dry by the time i'm ready to re oil and re insatall.
