Lost my Insurance certificate

What it says really.
Can't find the barsteward anywhere. I'm buying a new bike in 13 days, my instincts tell me to ride without the certificate (I have all the ancilliary paperwork that came with the certificate, would that constitute proof of insurance in the courts?) until I change the policy over to cover me on the bike.
What I want to know, is will I need the old certificate to change over my insurance (not new policy, same one) from the NSR to the RS? Will I need to phone and ask for a replacement?

Well, it's only 13 days, but if you want a replacement, they don't charge you for it. Thumbs Up

They won't need your old certificate to change the bikes over though.

Some places do charge for a replacement certificate.

Most places ask for the old one back, so you can't claim you're insured on your old bike when you're not. They may make you sign something saying you've lost the old one.

If I need a copy insurance certificate, I call the company and they have it on my doormat the following day (they can charge you for this but mine never have). You shouldn't need a certificate, your broker has all your details and should be able to handle the changeover with a simple phone call. If they say they can't, I strongly suggest you change brokers.

If you get a producer, just call your broker for a copy certificate to be sent out, it will be there within the seven days.

Hi, If you are changing your bike in 13 days time contact your insurance company to change over the details WITHOUT saying you lost the old one. As long as you are not canceling your insurance early then they will not ask for the ticket back. They may even send you out a temp cover note until the new documents arrive. I would not worry.

I have to concur with Delboy in this one Andy.

Just change the blasted insurance over by calling up your broker.

My broker (MCE) never asked me for the old certificate back, and I have added two bikes and removed two bikes all seperately from my policy within the last six months.

Just chill, you won't need that particular certificate any more... don't panic.

In that case, OneCall Insurance are good about that, I phoned at 4.30 to ask for a replacement, 2 days before my policy ended (needed a tax disc for buyer) and it was here the next morning, free of charge! Well done OneCall! Clapping

You don't need to carry it. Get a producer then ask your broker for a cover note. Sorted.

So again your insured so whats the fúckin problem?

I get my insurance through a broker if that makes any difference, I don't deal directly with the company Smile
