Hi

Shells are cheap. Depending on the design of the engine they can be easy to change (although I suspect with a Comet the engine will need to be stripped down). Often the crank suffers as well, so hope it really is OK.

All the best

they may try and prove neglegence, the mechanic says thats highly unlikely as the top end of the motr is pefect and so is the rest of the bottom end.

the bikes a hyosung, dealt through bavanar importers and is a 2004.

warrenty ends at the end of this month

Lucky it didn't happen a month later! If the rest of your engine is in good inck they have no case for negligence.

but yes, can anyone give me a round about price, assuming that its only the parts above that need doing and take into account the time it might take to do.

Hi

Free if under warrenty.

Otherwise, say £5~£30 for the bearings (a set for the car were £30, so should be less needing only 1/4 of as many, but bike spares cost more). Full gasket set, say £50 at OE prices. Say 3 labour hours getting the engine out / in. Say same again for the work (assuming the Comet is fairly simple). Probably about £400.

All the best

Keith

Put it this way. It is probably cheaper to put a new engine in it (at cost price) than to pay for the labour.

Why you need to know how much anyway? It is a warranty claim, you don't have to pay.

When the (Japanese) engine in my MZ let go, it was sent back to Germany, stripped and bench rebuilt with a new crank, bearings conrod, piston and cylinder head. I neither know nor care how much this cost them.
