Entering the village i slowed down for the pelican crossing, it was on red with school kids just starting to cross. I stopped and was sitting there for a while when i heard tyres screeching behind me. Then that feeling came over me, the one you get when you know something bad is about to happen and before i could even think....Bang! I get rammed up the arse.
It was a young lad and his mum in what i assume was his mums car (some little cheap korean thing) which was a right mess. It needs a new bumper, bonnet, wing, headlight and indicator. My bike has a little bit of the plastic mudguard that the number plate fastens to broken off, nothing else at all.
I think their bumper rammed my tyre which absobed all the impact and i just got shunted forward a couple of inches. Thinking about it, it was a damn good job i had both the front and back brakes on otherwise i might have been pushed into the kids.
The guy driving wasn't speeding (i passed him on the open road before the village) and was very shook up and apologetic. And as his car needs about £700 worth of repair i wasn't going to kick him while he was down for a simple mistake so i decided to accept £50 and say no more.
My legs are still a bit wobbly but it could have been much worse. ____________________ ZXR750L |

Least your ok, your rear end on your bike bullet proof or somthing? All that damaged to that car and all you got was a snaped mud-guard. Luck you was there in a way lough or it could of been the kids who would need the repair bill |

Mate, I hope you're bike is ok.
The same thing happened to me 8 years ago on a cbr400.
I said at the time it would prob be about £300.
The repair estimate came through at £2700!
Im glad I never took any cash from her. ____________________ Where does a turn end? 'Where you can do anything with the gas you want to, where you are brave again, where your attention is free from the turn, where you are sure you can do it better next time; that's the end' - Keith Code. |

Well my bike is a bit tatty anyway and has a few bits wrong with it. Had it been a really nice expensive one i'd definatly have let the insurers deal with it.
I really hope there isn't any hidden damage but considering the force i was hit at (not very hard) i'm 99% sure it's fine. It's coming off the road in the winter anyway for a fix up so i'll see.
(btw, i think it might have been the constant jabbering in from the woman his ear that made him crash. ) ____________________ ZXR750L |

Good to hear your alright.
Also good to hear about someone who's honest. Too many people in that situation would have been hoping up and down demanding a new bike, new gear, new lid and god knows how much compensation for time off work and all sorts of other s**t people make up in a claim these days.
You decided your bike was okay, you where okay and you made sure the other bloke was alright. Then you took his offer of compensation and got on with it.
So for that. You can have |

Same kind of situation happened to me today-but the other way round.
I was following a car going down a school lane when the crossing light turned orange. The pillock in front slams the brakes on (we could both have gone through the orange light) so i hit the front brakes and do a small stoppie to avoid hitting him.
All the kids thought it was cool but i was crapping myself!
Good to hear you're ok though!
It can be a bit nervy but at least you're carrying on biking! |
