This morning, for the first time in a few years, I rode to work with my minidisk player on.
As expected, I ended up riding a bit faster since I couldn't hear my bike revving as easily, and also "System of a Down" promotes a swift pace! Wink

I enjoy riding with music, although I have a problem with my earphones. Firstly I find it very difficult to put my helmet on without pulling the earphones out. Secondly, possibly due to them getting half pulled out when i put my lid on, after about 10 or 15 minutes on the bike, they become really uncomfortable.

I have Sony Fontopia (in the ear) headphones.

So... if you also listen to music on your bike, which headphones do you use? And how do you put your lid on without pulling them out of your ears?

I used those Sony Groove head phones that go in your ear with no probs.
Should be around £20 a pair, best sound you can get, combined with a Groove walkman, but they could have changed the name now.
Dodging thing IMO, I fucked myself up listing to tunes on a bike, took too many chances.

I can see why they cause a problem.

Mine were in ear ones like them but not as long. Not sure what make should do similar, Sony should still have them.
If you grow your hair longer it makes it easier.

I ride with an iPod and the headphones are pretty comfortable under my helmet. Tend only to use them when I am going to be sat on the motorway for any distance though.

I have an autocom, so the speakers are fitting into the helmet.

so tunes are no problem Smile

Also means I can use the phone (when I get round to sorting out the bluetooth widget) and talk to the gf when she's pillion.

also plan on getting the bike power supply kit, and fitting the radio so I can chat to my mates when we're out riding Very Happy

Second vote for the Sony headphones I have been using mine every day for the last 6 months.

As for music I love riding down on of my favourite twisty with a Strauss waltz “The Blue Danube” or going like a bat out of hell to the end theme of Blade Runner down a road with lots of hills and dips just feels so right.

Maybe you misread - the Sony earphones are my problem!

Unless you're using a different pair to the fontopia ones I have?

I am using the Sony MDR EX71 with the smallest ear plugs and find them comfortable that said my little sister hated them and found them to uncomfortable to use so I suppose it is all down the shape of your ear as to weather there suitable and comfortable for you.

I suppose I should also mention I only use one ear piece as I am completely deaf in my right ear any way so there just no point in having ether a earplug or earpiece in that ear.

I did see at one bike meet a company that did custom earpieces/headphones with moulded plugs cast from your own ear but if I remember right they where not cheep.

I use the same headphone that you use Suzuki. Nevr had an issue with them, As they fit quite tight into my ears they never seem to pull out.

Not really what you wanted to hear is it?

The soloutin depends on your helmet + you will loose volume on them...

Push the headpohnes into the gap where your cheekpands and lineing are, this will (on most helmets) keep them close to your ear, then have the wire taped down onto the helmet...

This way you can just plug in when you put your helmet on..

Been doing this for a year or so and the only dissadvantage is the lower sound level, louder headphones would fix it but...

I use some Koss ' The Plug' in ear headphones, you squeeze the little guys right in your ear, and it sends the bass directly by a lil tube inside them...awesome sound.

they're about £11 on ebay, and come with about five different squeezy ends so you can find one that fits bestestest

Very Happy I have adopted Rammstein as my riding soundtrack, but they can't really make me ride faster on a 50. Plus the music is usually fazed out until I stop at lights etc.

Gillan - No Laughin in Heaven... then a random selection of 70s rock, followed by NineInchNails.

Makes for some rather aggressive riding... but keeps ya awake on long cold damp night-time journeys.

I found riding with music on worked wonders for my confidence and awareness of others on the road around me (illogical but it did). P'raps trained me to stop listening and start looking more... *shrug*

I just use the cheapy headphones that came with my MP3 player - nowt flash... helmet is tight enough to keep em in my ears...

At one point I had a pair stitched into the helmet with a female socket that poked out the back of the lid... then just plugged MP3 player into helmet... cept I took lid off in a hurry due to entrapped wasp on a summers' day and strained the wire... back to the cheapies I went...
