Normal thread so you undo it anti-clockwise. Sprocket nuts are notoriously tight - use the correct size socket with a breaker bar and a length of pipe slipped over it.

Put the bike in gear and have someone stand on the back brake. You may also need a piece of stout timber slipped through the back wheel to jam against the swinging arm.

Start heaving with the end of the pipe at floor level near the back wheel - the nut usually gives up when you've got the bar vertical next to the tank! Trust me, they are that tight Thumbs Up

Good luck with the sprocket. I'm not in the States, dear old Blighty is home. Thumbs Up

I've got the genuine Suzuki GSXR600 workshop manual for the 97-00 models in .pdf if it's any use to you. 100mb though so i don't know how we'd transfer it.

The pdf manual would be great. I have access to an ftp site thru my work for large file transfers. If you would copy it to ftp://syracuse:syracuse@cicada.davey.com the folder name is Evelyn. I could grab it from there. Thanks again for all your help! Very Happy
Maybe I will be able to offer you a helping hand.Hand someday in return!

ok, highlight the pdf file and then right click on the mouse and select 'copy'. Then open up the ftp site and click on the Evelyn folder(it's empty so you won't see anything listed there). Then you right click again and select 'paste'. Then let it do its thing. It will copy the file over and you will see it appear in the Evelyn folder when done. Hopefully this helps. If not let me know.

Sorted!

Firefox wouldn't do it but I tried in IE and it seems to have gone. Now you need a quiet Saturday morning in the office to print it all out Laughing

Just in case there's anything sensative or personal in that link I'd delete it if I was you.

Best of luck Thumbs Up

If its the original front sprocket it will be threadlocked on with sealer. I tried to remove the front sprocket on my GSXR1100-a 1986 model..... It was the original, the chain had been on there for 19 years. The bike had done 17000 with that chain. Went to replace it and it took an almighty grunting pulling pushing kicking hitting with hammers session to get it off lol.
