Reece mate, alot of them are pretty much identical, wouldnt worry too much about the type it is, just look for a good clean example which has been well looked after, far more important. You after a scooter or a geared moped?

i believe it will be better for you to get a geared bike if you are going to go onto have bigger bikes, if you just want a cheap run around, get a scooter.

duno how Aerox's perform but i liek the look of em!

Get a gilera runner and mod it. 30mph for any scooter is way too slow and dangerous IMHO

yea there all the same really, i had a speedfight 2 as i liked the look of them and was great, didnt break down once and i put about 3000miles+ on it in under a year.

would recomend that you get one with at least 12" wheels as my mate has a zip and it had 10" and when going around a corner fast it wouldnt hold and he kept skidding into side, not good!

You're either ped rider A or B.

A will buy his ped, then when he's 17 get a car.

B will buy his ped, when he's 17 get a 125, and then get a car and/or a 400/600.

If you're A, go for a Gilera Runner, Yamaha Jog R/Aerox, or Peugeot Speedfight.

If you're B, go for an Aprilia RS50, a Derbi GPR50, an Aprilia RX50, Derbi Senda, Motorhispania RS50, anything with gears. Good to get it out of the way.

Peugeot XR6 sport, ALL THE WAY!

I been riding one for half a year and I love it.

It looks like a real Sports Bike.
Its got gears.
It teaches you how to ride a proper motorbike and not a shitty girls scooter.
It attracts alot of attention from the moped crowd.
All I have had done to mine is de-restricted it and it still quicker than anyone elses 50cc.
Handles brill, Even if your only doing 50mph round a courner it still gets ur heart going when you got that knee out and leaning it over.

The problems with this bike is purely cost. It costed me £2500, brand new. which isnt to bad, but the insurance costed me £900!!!! simply couse it has gears and looks like a sport bike.

But its worth every penny and if you look after it youll get most of ur money back.

Wona no more? search Peugeot XR6 sport on google and click images and youll see what I mean by just how sexy this thing is!

I'm ped rider B, too, and I owned 2 twist and go's before my 125...

Couldn't afford the silly money that geared 50s go for, and they're so underpowered that half the gears don't actually seem to serve any purpose...

Having a ped just made me more determined to get a bigger bike, just so I could get off the damn thing Laughing More fun that cars, too.

Yes I know plenty of people choose to wait until 125s to have gears, and despite my theory I never got a geared 50! Laughing

I was simply suggesting what I thought was the best course of action. Thumbs Up I'm probably a bit biased as I think upgrading to a 125 and then doing your DAS is pointless, so I suppose I have it in for 125s a little bit.

You're 14?! The only possible reason you could want it this early is to ride it offroad or illegally, neither of which I recommend, for obvious reasons.

Now I am probably just an old boring bugger. I always thought one of the best mopeds ever made was the honda C50.

If you are serious about doing one up then this could be the way to go.

I would consider the following to be important points on a moped:

1) Big wheels for stability.
2) Footpegs rather than a plate for control.
3) Minimum of plastic for when you crash.
4) Cheapness.

The C50 has all of these. In addition it has three gears, a semi automatic clutch (so twist and go with three crash gears) and the controls are in the same place as on a bigger bike (eg rear brake under your right foot, gear change under your left). The engines in them are virtually indestructable.

If you look about the place, a tatty one can be had for sweeties, parts are even cheaper. They are often old enough to be before the 30mph restriction came in too.

My Dad got one for my cousin to ride round the fields. It is a 1972 bike that he got for £50 off ebay. A lick of paint and about another £50 on parts and it is tidy looking and roadworthy. I have told him I will buy it off him when he is fed-up with it. Does 45mph flat out and superb, high amplitude wheelies off the clutch. Mr. Green

You're welcome here don't be put off or anything you sound like a decent kid. As for the aerox I'd completely avoid scooters like I said get something easy to ride like a derbi senda or a aprilia mx50. infact there's so many offroad/sm 50cc bikes you're spoilt for choice, as for tuning I recommedn you at least get an exhaust system and re-gear the thing, riding around on a restricted bike is dangerous, 30mph wtf? what happens when you come to 50mph roads?
