Hi there,

I am planning on biking over to Europe. 1st time for me. Is there anything I should have? Bike is sorted and ready to go, passport is valid. Green card stuff keeps being mentioned, but my insurance group said that it came with it, though I own no signed card. Am I missing anything else here?

Yup, that is sorted to. I was thinking on the lines of the green card issue and stuff. Taking with me, insurance for bike and travel, passport, plenty of cash and of course clothing. Just wanna be sure that when I wake in the morning I can just hop on and head over. Wish I had more time, but I only got back tot he UK this morning. lol

Hi,

You have to take all your bike documents (leave a photocopy at home)
You should take a E111 (free from post office with your passport)

You need a first aid kit and spare bulbs for most countries
You must be over 18

Isn't there a new replacement to the E111 now? I can't remember.

id suggest getting a touring bike to do it on and sell it when you get back

for example vfr750 fast and comfy, fairly cheap on ebay
deauville less fast but probably still comfy some are cheap on ebay

goldwing very comfy and old ones quite cheap on ebay

might as well have the right tool for the job
