Right, i just want to know if im a twat for this.
I dont mind trundling with 125's on occasion, but thats to get somewhere. Rarely for shits and giggles.
If im arranging a rideout, i prefer to have equal ish bikes. So for my 600, non restricted 400-1000 is fine for a good paced rideout.
But what about if someone asked if you wanted a rideout, and they were on a 50cc bike? Or a 125 (4t, 2t wouldnt be that bad)?
Would you be interested. Would you expect a dull ride. Would you expect to get out of 2nd? ____________________ China traffic/travel bike vid - When I make a sweeping statement, please add the word 'statistically' in to the sentence before you bitch...

On ride-outs i take part in (North user's) we often have 125 2t's joining. They're not slow enough to cause any problems, if fact some are pretty quick averaging 85-90mph no problems and they often take bends at almost suicidal lean angles to maintain that momentum
As a general rule we always make sure that everyone knows where we are going. One of us on bigger bikes stays at the back to keep an eye out and keep the cars off them (Always BMW's ) as they get seriously pissed being overtaken by an L plated RS125
Usually the group spilts up into two anyway those who like to ride fast and those who prefer to stick to 80ish speeds. As far as arriving at the a stoping point is concerned the difference is only around 2 minutes anyway. |

If the car tries to overtake you, speed up then slow it back down. sorted. |
Dangerous as hell though. I like blocking cars if i see some Lplater being harassed. Nothing says back off like a well timed wheelspin
And im not a twat for thinking overtaking should be at least possible by the people you follow, as should the need to get out of first.
I find rideouts dull by en large anyhew. The old 'everyone slower then me is an idiot and everyone faster is a nutter'. Its all about having the same pace and decisions.
I for instance avoid flat out speed, but love fast overtakes. As in lurk behind, bang down a cog, past. Front flapping away.
Thats my high
That and shitty wheelies.
What i dont like is nursing some 3 bhp heap down A roads when i can easily do about 3 times its top speed. MY two pence. ____________________ China traffic/travel bike vid - When I make a sweeping statement, please add the word 'statistically' in to the sentence before you bitch...

show me a road with a good mix of 40mph-80mph corners and short straights and ill show you a 125 that will hassle you all the way!
not just mine, many 125's are a great laugh on twisties, people always underrate them, even on a track a well ridden 125 will hassle bigger bikes in the corners.
a couple of years ago i took a couple of bikes to a trackday, it was wet, so the big one stayed in the van and the 125 spent the whole day showing people up in the corners..... |

Best thing is to plan a route and stop off say every 15 mins to let everyone catch up.
On a decent set of twisties a 2t 125 will have no problem keeping up, it's only on the 100mph+ corners that it will get dropped, and on the straights where all the "big boys" demonstrate their talent by opening the throttle. |

I feel a right arse going on a ride out with claud and ric on their 400s. So many times they could have got to Box hill in a much faster time than if they were babysitting a guy on the m25 only doing 65mph.
If i'm out with the herts lot, it's okay because it's not as if they're ragging it, and because the area's pretty familiar, it's not too difficult to meet up.
But riding to hastings with the other BCFers during Mayday was a NIGHTMARE. I bless Davo and R4nger who escorted me most of the way to hastings
Personally if i were to meet up with some 125 4t guys for a ride out, it would only be for a 30 mile ride if that. I'd be very reluctant to go ride out a serious distance with them purely because i've put so many people into riding at an agonisingly slow pace.
I was quite happy when Swaffs decided to still ride out with me on his 600 through the thames valley even though it was somewhat unnecessary in the rain!
125's are fun because they simply dont have the power to spit you off a bend if you're too giddy with the throttle, so the only time i manage to catch up with other people i'm riding with is either, when they're in the bends, trying to filter through traffic or have broken down ____________________ The Tot 2019 Z1000SX - 2007 R1

That's why I keep a variety of bikes. If someone wants to go on a rideout with me who is on a smaller bike, I take a smaller bike too. Easy.
As I have said, you don't land up that far behind anyway, a matter of some 20 minutes over 350 miles or so when I took my CB125TDC down to Wales with a bunch of mates on 650cc+ bikes. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. I often go on rides with a Honda rebel 125 (4t) and honda SL125 (4t) and I'm on a (restricted) KLR600. The two 125's top out at 45mph but it's still a great laugh. If you get really bored you can allways just blast ahead a few corners at whatever speed and just wait at a suitable place on the side of the road for the others to catch up.
