I noticed today the frame on my VFR was getting pretty hot. I lowsided a few months back and rode it for the first time today. I hadn't noticed any real damage (just plastic and ancillaries) but was suprised to fine the frame felt warmer than the downpipes.

What could cause this?

It's a Honda V4, I presumed they all did that.

My NC30 and RVF got/get pretty hot after ride that you can't touch the frame for 20 minutes.

Atleast it keeps greasy finger marks off the twinspars.

Be grateful if you ride in winter!
Summer (whats that?) can be different, and i worry in case the rear cylinders decide to let go - dont want to be a eunuch!!!!

I know some models using the Honda V4 have heat shields to prevent this. However, I've heard they can come loose. On the VFR 750/800 there are heat shields behind the footpegs. Worth checking if these or any of the others have been bent or moved. Also check to see if the exhaust hangers have been moved or bent adjusting the exhaust position slightly.

HTH Thumbs Up

Yeah I was a little worried about this before, my VFR really gets cooking when it’s humid.

Remember also that in the warmer months you are warmer yourself, when it is cold and you legs are cold the bike producing the heat feels a lot warmer than it should.
