there was a 27 year old guy killed on his bike the other week in Chesterfield, since my dads a sergent there he went to the scene and told me about it when he got home as the biker was from my town. looking through the local rag today (CHAD if anyone local read this) and the family of the fallen bike have a full pag article asking bikers to reconsider biking, saying such things like "if one person avoids dying on a bike then our sons death wont be in vein" or word to that effect and saying that his friends have been biking for 22 years and are now giving up. the article says you never think it will happen to you, no one does but it does happen to people and i could happen to you, its hard to immagine you can go out one day and then not come home. i might be misquoting as its late and i dont have the article to hand but its the gist of it. motorcyclist dies, what next? cop eats a donut? doctor plays golf? i have full sympathy to the family and my girlfriend said "if u die on your bike im doing that" and i said "no your not, i would want you to have an article urging people to carry on riding and carry on enjoying it, to not let it put anyone off at all!"

My view is, if i die on my bike, at least i died doing something i love. Id rather die of natural causes tho. But who knows what the future holds, just dont think about it. Just live life to the full and enjoy the ups and downs it throws at you.

Re consider biking maybe just means be more carefull.

(WARNING MIGHT BE A BIT OFFENSIVE)

Reconsider biking, pisses me of when muppets say this, you never see the gimps saying reconsider driving cars?

Why i'll tell you, they are unable to understand that in life shit happens it's a FACT but its a fact they choose to ignore.

Ohhhh bikes are dangerous i think i'll sit in my house in my jammies like a fucking hermit watching re-runs of will&grace all fucking day everyday because if i go outside i might fucking die.

Or im gonna keep biking cause i fucking love it and would rather die knowing i enjoyed myself rather than living like a fucking gimp.

As a response to the death of a couple of good friends at the early part of the month I figured it'd be a good idea to write a letter, that i kept in my leathers.
You know the type, emergency contact numbers, who to tell, what to say, and yes, funeral arrangements and final wishes.
The very end of the aforementioned letter:

"Finally, to any bikers that read this, not including those already named above: For god's sake, don't give up riding because of this. It's not what I'd want, fair enough it's your decision but I wouldn't want any of you to choose to give up riding"

Placing an unfair burden on my riding friends or simply making my wishes known?

Other parts include pleading with parents not to hate biking, and making it clear to them I never once regretted riding. Smile Thumbs Up

Ive got more objection to people driving 4x4's. There was a thing on the news saying that people who get hit by a 4x4 are 4 times more likely to die than if they get hit my a normal car (quite appropriate with it being called a 4x4).

At least a biker is more of a danger to himself than others. 4x4 drivers are driving a tank for self protection and sod everyone else.

I quite like nsrkids letter idea.

Smile Thumbs Up

It's common sense when you think about it, sort of a will and last words to friends and family combined.
I find you always ride faster "when you know that you're taking care of others after your death" Laughing

I'm not the only one on BCF who's wrote one Smile.

Word of warning though - It felt like writing a suicide note, I was practically in tears at the end of writing it Crying or Very sad

Still, think about what you put on it - they'll be your last words Cool .

lol

I ride my bike daily and am aware of the risks.

If you find the risks intimidating you need to consider other forms of transport.

I love riding and Im not going to give it up.

If they banned having a car with a single occupant, then Id guess motorcycling casualties would drop considerably.

I loose count of the constant "oooh you should get rid of that thing its dangerous"..

Ever see a car thats hit a tree @60?

Cars are just as dangerous, because they are in a nice squashy seated box with no wind whistleing through their armpits and floor blazeing by underneeth they are quite happy to think they are invincible..

+ If you gave every driver on the road a fire breathing sports car power and agility equivilant to a good bike then the figues would be very different..

i agree with this, i was warming my bike up the other day and i live on a road with a primary school at the bottom and all these cars drive needlessly into my road when they could park at the top, anwyays that not the point i saw a huge BMW 4x4 about a year old and hadnt been offroad at all? what is the point of a all terrain vehile for the school run?!?!? i think this is more of a problem than bikers!

Seen clerks?

Imagine dying midway through having a wank. Imagine dying bent double with your dick in your mouth and balls resting on your lips, with a broken kneck due to trying to suck your own cock.

Why does that make me think of NSR Andy? Razz
