Finaly got arorund to fiting horns to the third bike they will have been on

Runs off a 20AMP fuse, so its a fair bit, its going to be off a relay and have + running from the batery to relay..

Wanting it to be tidy + it being a high current, whats the best way to make a good earthing point, say off a bolt hole onto the frame?

I know its simple stuff, but i've done smaller bits beofre which didn't have a good enough earth and want to clarify what i'm doing is right Embarassed Rolling Eyes

Tap the hole out to make sure theres no paint in it, sand the nut head to remove all rust or paint, degrease and then for overkill use conductive grease. Same for terminal and bolt.

Is 20amps a lot for a horn?

Twisted Evil Wink

Thanks for the reply...

Yeh its for the compressor, it will run off 24v@10amps so @12v its 20amps...

Another related question...

If a relay is supplying the 20amps power, is the earth only for the switch current? (i.e. bugger all) + do they only draw the power needed to click the switch/relay? (almost none)

Yep, your 20 amp current will be through the heavy contacts and earthed at the load (compressor), the current for the actual coil in the relay will be negligable. But you'll still need a 'good' earth for that.
