It's "bike" for me, too. When I want to make it clear that I don't mean a bicycle, I say "motorbike".

I believe the modern, PC term is "powered two-wheeler" to avoid offending scooterists.

Motorbike simply being a commonly used abbreviation of motor bicycle - motorcycle, it's not all that surprising.

If you want to search for two terms on Google use brackets, for example:

(motorbike, motorcycle) exhaust (Remus, Arrow)

If you want to search for a phrase:

"Remus exhaust" "buy online" you will only get combinations of those two phrases.

If you were to search remus exhaust buy online you would get different results, but fairly relevant anyway, there are better examples than the one I used.

It also works on eBay.

I think motorcycle sounds cooler, and it is more correct than motorbike.

However I tend to use motorbike more because its the accepted term by non bikers.

The thing is, we're not motorbike-ists, we are Motorcyclists...

I genrally say motorbike. Because i'm sick and tired of people asking me, "so you've got a raleigh then?" and i'm like, nah, HONDA!

The funny thing is that people don't assume "BIKERS" are those who ride pushbikes, yet whenever we say we're riding bikes, they instantly assume it's pedal power Wink it's very confusing.

Would Arnie really have said, "I need your clothes, your boots, and your motorbike." All depends on the context. Wink

"motorbike" implies a motor and TWO wheels (bike)

"motorcycle" there it nothing in this word that implies two wheels!
If you look at it mathematically, a "motorcycle" could be anything that has a motor and wheels that go round, no?

Bike is what I say most, along with motorbike, i never say motorcycle, sounds like what a 50yr old politician would say!

Motorbike is actually a slang word for motorcycle, which is an abbreviation of Motorbicycle.

Motorcycle is the correct term, similarly automobile is probably the correct term for car, because you can get railway cars too...
