Inspired by the ugly bike thread I got thinking about impractical bikes.

In particular I saw this (available in the USA). It's totally impractical but I find myself wanting one, just to say I've ridden it Thumbs Up Very Happy

that bike does seem a bit pointless - a 50cc four stroke track bike?

cant imagine it being that quick lol

Well it is a high compression double overhead cam motor, so itll be a bit faster than a C50 clunk....

Local Honda dealer had one in a while ago. With lights and everything fitted. Think they are mainly a Japanese market bike.

true, but even so i just cant see a 50cc 4 stroke trackbike being worthwhile tbh

Would expect the Dream 50R to do atleast 70mph with it being quite highly tuned.

Plus its a race bike not a track bike, its for racing in the 50cc races and stuff.

Really doubt it is that fast. Maybe 50ish true top speed if highly tuned, 60 at the outside.

the rs isn't that great for practicality. spins up (in the wet) whenever it hits the powerband, takes 2 and a half hours to warm up, needs powervalves checking every 3000 miles and pistons replaced every 8000.
needs £10.84's worth of 2 stroke to every £60 of petrol (which would only get you 240 miles), and you have to stay on top of maintenance because if the powervalve retaining pins wear, the powervalves enjoy shearing off and dropping into the barrels = max costage.

the dream 50 is available in the uk, ive seen several, the thing that makes it so desirable, over other 50cc bikes, is that it is actually hand assembled in the hrc race shop. not some production line special. the guys who build the wsb and motogp bikes for hrc, build these as well in between, just for the pure love of it all. how else can you put a factory hand built by hrc race bike in your garage?

yea would agree, rear wheel always spics on corner and tend to blow up! also when you trying to get home as early as you can, riding fast after you waited 5-10 mins for it to warm up feel kind of pointless
