Gloves for winter...

ok have some leather gloves but they have been well used and have lots of holes, i would like some new ones but have no idea which to get.

been looking at hein gerke gloves and look pritty good, not sure which are warmest though,

i want a pair of gloves that are really warm for the winter, anyone recommend any as i commute a lot in winter and my hands are always cold and need a pair that will keep them really warm,

Five or three fingers. Waterproof and I've used mine for three winters.
The three finger (Pengiun) glove keeps your piggies warmer coz they are close together instead of seperated by fabric.
Good value and 100% waterproof but tuck the cuffs up your sleeve.

yea i tuck them normally, yea i have a check on the web now, are they warm even on long journeys? i normally ride 40-50mins

Or HG Master 4 gloves. Not quite as warm as the "Vulcan" ones but double cuffed so your hands are going to stay dry no matter what.

Not wishing to seem contradictory.
I fell off and the gloves saved my hand from being ground down to the bone. The palm and fingers of the glove have a bit of road rash but still working fine.
I spose it depends on the road surface you contact.
You're instucted to hold the lining from outside before removing the glove.
Heated grips don't keep my handy pops warm in winter. But at -5C what would?

the panthers look really good as this is the sort of buget i had, stinkwheel those gloves you suggested look even better but the money isnt going to go that far as need a new helmet, proper trousers meant to be saving for new bike aswell!

I've just picked up some Pathan gloves from HG in preperation for when I pass my test on the 31st.

They're supposed to be really good at keeping the heat in although I'm a lit bit weary of using them on my lessons as they are soo thick I worry about not getting enough feel through the controls

Hey, i use a cheap set of summer gloves and now it is getting cold in the winter i just wear a pair of woolen gloves underneath.

Okay but I am a cheap skate though.

I bought some RST Carbopaw gloves for this winter, been good so far and only cost me about £26 from here https://www.hellmart.com/HelmetInfo/RST/Gloves/Carbopaw-Gloves.html

I also have some Klan heated inner gloves that will fit under them a treat when winter really starts to bite.

Has anyone had heated gloves? not the lineing gloves but the glove gloves (couldn't be doing with fiddley inners, dont use my lineing gloves often)



I currently have belstaff patroll gloves, really great they are till it rains... shame really.

Another vote for the Hein gericke Pathan gloves.
I have the three and the five finger versions.
I prefer the 3 finger ones and as a winter glove I can't fault them.

I have those ^^^^^^ too. They are warm, if a little poor for the controlls etc. They are waterproof but feel like they soak the water up to the point that they let in. The protection doesnt seem that much but Ive never had to test that.

Im looking for some different ones this winter, just so that I can spell the panthons, or whatever theyre called, off when they get really wet.

Hi,

I am a fan of the cloven hoves myself, I like my hands warm and dry. I also like heated grips.

This months Ride Magazine (BCF edition ) has a glove test. This comapres waterproofing, warmth and protection abilities. Buy it is worth a read.

To help :-
Ride recomended is Alpinestars Jet Road Gortex at £68 warm(4/5), waterproof lost out the best buy on the protection score.

The best cloven hoof was the Spada Polar at £34 (9th) (might be buying these myself.

1) Alpinestars Jet Road Gortex at £68 warm(4/5),

2) AlpineStars Tech road £85 (not a good warmth score 2/5)

3) Spada force 2 WP £45 (warm 5/5 dry 15/15 burst 3/10)

4) Bering Volga £55 warms 2/5

I bought some snowboarding gloves after my first lesson as the rope that pulles you up the slope ripped my normal gloves to peices in 10 minutes. Never went snowboarding again so I'm using them for the bike - ok so far and strengthened in the plam/finger dep't should I fall off and put my hands down.

And imo, there's a lot to be said for gauntlet style, that go well over the cuffs of your jacket, and stop cold air being blasted up your jacket sleeves.

Does anyone else, put their bike into neutral, and put their gloved hands on the engine at the traffic lights to get some warmth inthem, or is it just me?
