dunno how many times ive bought radweld put it in when warm with the engine running and it hasn't worked (I think it's like 5/6 quid a pop aswell?).

It's only a sneaky small leak but it's all dripping down onto my downpipes.

Any leak probably means new radiator time. Bike radiators are tiny. Radweld stuff probably block it in the wrong place. Even if it stops a leak you'll only be running on part of the radiator so not very efficient.

FWIW I've always been told the old trick of using an egg works best. Never tried it myself but have had several first hand stories of it working.

When I used Barrs Leaks on my ZXR, all it did was block up the the coolant jacket around the head. Probably made it worse to be honest, because when I did the head gasket it was full of that shit.

If the rad's old and tired, change it. I'll be springing new leaks on a regular basis in the near future.

If it's in good condition and just been punctured by a stone or something, try crimping together the channel each side of the hole with fine pliers and then using chemical metal or some other epoxy type stuff to seal it from the outside.

And then you'll need to figure out how to get all the radweld gunk out of the water channels in your engine.

fin.

if you can locate the leak externally you can repair it with JB weld or similar.

I though i was having deja vu when i saw this post. Then i realised i'd just seen your post on mig. Laughing

Despite the cost i'd get a new one. Even if you bodged the old one up it would probably fail completely sometime in the future and leave you stranded.

super glue and a pair of long nosed pliers can be used to fix leaking fins, l,ve used this method quite a few times to fix small pentrations.

Do you know what you are doing?

Mix the compound as instructed on the packet.

It is measured for a car engine maybe 1.5 - 2 gallons of coolant in the system.
Maybe you used tooooo much. Embarassed

It is not a perfect solution (No Pun) but is perfect if you need some time to save up the readies to buy a new rad.

Before fitting th new rad use Barrs Flush in the system to clean out all the crud.

In correct solution Barrs leaks will not block the system.

There are companys that will rebuild your radiator for £70/80/90 (my cx/b cost 70) appart from buying a new/second hand one this is the best way of going about it..

Have you thought about buying a donor bike? Wink
