Earlier on, i was out in the pissing rain and i was in a long queue.

I noticed that there appeared to be steam/smoke coming from inbetween the engine block and the front wheel.

Was this just steam from the hot engine + water or is it something more serious? Shocked

This aint my bike but its this area here that the smoke/steam was coming from:

Isn't that where the rad is?

Could of just been rain water on hot radiators, specially if you were stuck in stationary traffic.

my RS does that all the times, it quite easy to see my radiation and the stream was deferenetly coming from there, hot radiator with cold rain makes steam as the rain is in small droplets so not that much heat need to stream some! scared the sh*t out off me when i first saw it!

Slightly off topic but was on the bike the other day and got the smell of burning rubber Shocked
Couldn't feel anything wrong with the bike so carried on. It's quite worrying getting the occasional sniff, thinking what's rubbing and no place to pull over safely.

Came up behind a lorry and found that for some reason he was locking his brakes. White smoke and everything. Managed to overtake and no more rubber smell Thumbs Up

On topic, agree with the previous posts. I shouldn't worry too much about the steam, especially as it was raining and stuck in traffic.

Off topic:
I was out for a run last night.
I got the most pungent smell of cow dung and amonic piss up my nose.
Passed a farm about 1/4 mile down the road no more smell Laughing

Sensible helmet on:
Steam from the rad?
Yeh my bike's looks like a road roller when I'm stopped in rain.

Keep a carefull eye on your coolant level Wink (just to be safe, rads dont like stones e.t.c.)

Worst thing is useing WD40 on the bike the night before, if theres any on your exhaust system, a cloud of stinky fumes and smoke Shocked

Theres some sort of factory near my girlfriends and every time i go past it smells like burning wire, took a long time to stop freaking out expecting to see my nuts on fire as i went past Shocked

Happens more on naked bikes. The ER-5 was like a steam train in the wet.

ZZR doesn't seem bother, probably due to fairing protection.

it wasnt the rain dripping on the exhaust manifold as that would make a bit of steam Question
