OK...we are working on a new project and its really simple. We are publishing a new book about everyday rides. We want contributions from across the board! If you have time and don't mind helping us out it would be appreciated! Take a decent picture of your bike and in no more than 500 words write an article about it...you can make the style and topic anything you like (obviously around your bike though) Imagine an everyday bike meet....This book will serve as a snapshot in time of everyday bikers and what they ride...we want to see the bog standard and the radical one offs! We are going to publish what you write so keep it clean(ish) pictures of stunt riding / naked girlfriends / boyfriends will all be considered..but please only ONE PICTURE per entry! You don't have to write the full 500 words...you just have a max thats all....so please help us make this book happen......you're all invited!
Send articles and pics to nicholsonpublishing@yahoo.com ...Thanks! We'll keep you posted on progress! ____________________ Funny how? Funny like a clown.....Im here to amuse you? |

Why do people rate it as spam when it's a bike related topic, he's not even selling anything (yet anyway).. just asking for requests.. why do people go and rate it spam? ____________________ Current Toys: 06 Yamaha WR250F | Nissan 350Z GT | Tech 4 Homes |

It could be called spam, but it sounds like a good 'spam' to me.
I might, but I don't have a bike at the moment to take a pic of! |

Well this is my view. Someone comes on to the forum and asks people to give up their time to write a story about their 'everyday rides' - why?
He says 'we' - who are we? He says 'we are a publishing a book' - when is it going to be published? What is the book called? Will every contributor get an acknowledgement? If we contribute will we get a free copy of the book? Why is he using a Yahoo address rather than a company address?
Sorry, call me suspicious but I am not writing about my lovely daily journey on the basis of information received, hence I negatively rated this post. ____________________ Using a mobile phone while driving a car should be made a capital offence! |

I'll do it if I can be on Page 3!
Just stating the obvious: if anybody does do this, make sure you cover your number plates in any photos and don't be too specific about where the bike is parked and what your bike security is like. |

Let me set the record straight....This is a genuine request! Firstly the reason I use nicholsonpublishing@yahoo.com is to protect myself from info gathering bots that send spam about loans / adult sites / getting bigger boobs etc etc....so don't panic...there is a genuine reason!
As for security we would obviously smudge out any pictures of number plates etc...
We do not want any location details what so ever....we do not want details of security.
We...are Nicholson Publishing which is actually me and a handful of dedicated bikers and printers that want to publish a book about everyday rides!
To the 16year old on the 50cc bike....yes...I want you in the book....we not interested in just showing the one off specials or the radically insane....this is a published bike meet....imagine walking around the car park at Box Hill or The Dick Turpin....or the old meet at the White Horse or Chelsea Bridge on a friday night(these are my old haunts) I just enjoyed wandering around looking at all the bikes and taking in all the detail.
So please don't think Im after anything......And yes all contributors get a credit! Im not ripping anyone off!
So get your camera out...take a few pics of the bike and send me a piece about you or the bike....its as simple as that....come on...help me make this thing happen!
And plus the fact in 20 years time its a great thing to look back at....
OH and I almost forgot...about passing details of dangerous driving to the Police......if you want to send a pic of a nice wheeli or stoppie please do so....if you really don't trust me..just indicate in your piece that the photo was taken on private ground or on closed roads...for belt and braces... ____________________ Funny how? It seems you want us to do your work for pittance really (your relying on the fact people like showing off their bikes) and you publish the book and make money off it.

Again though mate, no-one's twisting anyone's arms over this and he's being really transparent about the whole deal. You may get in a book for 500 (not much really) words. That's it. If you're not up for it just ignore it ____________________ 'Allo! My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die!

OK, I think it is a good idea, it will be like one of those little books like "50 cars that changed racing" and "Fastest bikes in the world" those little stocking filler books. If you know what I mean.
I will write up some and send pics when I get back, if he makes money out of it, then good for him. Personally I think it would be cool to have my picture and writing in a book. Imagine going into a bookshop with someone and... "Hey look, it's me!"
I think some of you should write one to fill the various stereotypes - 25-30 on a 1000cc superbike, Husband and Wife with an FJR1300 who go to spain and france on it, Crazy motocross rider, Older guy with a Honda C90, commuter on an ER-5, pedboy with a scooter, Vespa on her Vespa, Wheelie king on his Bandit 1200, Supermoto rider, Streetfighter, Chopper, Racer...

Yes, that's precisely what he's doing. But then, he's in the publishing business, that's what people do, they make books.
As for getting other people to do his work for him. Well, he wants people's thoughts and own words about their rides.
Short of him going round, riding everyones bikes on the routes they want to talk about, how else is it going to work? Would you want someone else riding your bike on your favourite stretch of tarmac?
Sometimes, this forum amazes me with its blinkered approach to other people trying to put bikers in a positive light. You know, a book about bikers, written by actual bikers, ooh, maybe even published by, hmmm, bikers? ____________________ Colin McRae MBE 1968 - 2007 RIP
