Hi,
I have done a cbt, and due to do Theory this friday, but I am planning on doing the DAS before the end of November, is this a good idea, or is it best to avoid the winter weather, and wait until march, when the weather starts to improve? The only riding I have done on a bike is the cbt, but I have been driving a car on the roads for 10 years.

Thanks For Help

im in a similar situation, got my test in december. I would rather do it on a nice sunny day with perfect visibility, but you will have to ride in shitty weather someday. If you can ride it shouldnt matter if its a bit wet, just watch out for all the leaves in the gutter.

Ahh poo.. you will be fine at this time of year !

My other half and myself both did our tests in November.
It was cold, yes..and wet, yes, but it all added to the fun.

On my day it BUCKETED it down. Truly flood time.
I think the examiner admired me for it in a way.
I was soaked to the skin before the test had even started..then he stood watching me show and tell as he was underneath his huge golf umbrella Rolling Eyes Laughing

If you can ride in that kind of weather, you must have good bike skills Thumbs Up

i did mine 12nov 2003 and it pissed it down most of the time, during my test and lessons.

so don't let the weather put you off , just get it done ASAP so you can get out there on the road Very Happy

My instructor has told me that if you learn in crap weather it will make you an even better rider still Confused If you feel you are ready for your test then do it now to get it over and done with. Trust me I wish I had done this years ago but was not interested back then.

learning in bad weather is one thing but i wdnt want to take my test in bad weather as emergency stop is harder in the wet

probably not too bad really its just another thing to think about

Hmmm familiar.

When I did my test, it was the first time i'd realy been out in rain and it was that fine annoying rain, that misted up my visor.

I ended up doing the test with the visor up.

Still passed though.

i passed my test in the pissing rain.
The instructor said it is actually easier in the wet (assuming you are up to a passable standard in the dry) as you can do everything much slower, including your emergancy stop.

Just relax and take your time.
THe examiner is a biker too and is fully aware of what rain means to a biker, especialyy a new one.

Think I took my test the same day jodiewodie did hers in November last year.

I ride all year around and this is my third winter, sure it gets cold and wet but rather be on the bike saving time on my commute than public transport/cars.

Jimmie I'm in the same boat as you almost. I've been driving 12 years and only have my CBT. I have my DAS course booked for next week here in Edinburgh (which is not well known for its gloriously sunny weather) so I'm off to HG and pick up a rubber visor wipe to slide over my finger and some rain-x type solution.

It rains for about half of the year in this country so its best just to get on with it. You'll get caught out there in the rain eventually.
