I was out riding today, and everything was normal. However, on my journey home i quickly noticed that every time i brake, the whole scooter will shake and vibrate really quite vigorously! Shocked It has never ever done this before and its definatley not normal. It happens mostly when i apply the rear brake, but also slightly when i apply the front brake. It will also do it at any speed, be it 10 mph, or 60mph Thinking

Any ideas what it could be? I can feel the shake all over the bike so i am not quite sure where it is comming from, as i can feel it below me, through the handlebars and through the brakes etc...

Any ideas what it could be? Confused

You checked your brake pads, how much wear is on them and the condition of the disks? Although if it's doing this suddenly, then I presume it's not these.

I'm thinking wheel bearings? Never had them go before though

I know for a fact that my rear pads are low, but when my front pads when low last year they made a scraping sound/feel rather that a jolting vibration....

The scooter has only covered 8000km, would bearings go after this mileage?

Could be the brakes have been binding, heated the disc up and warped it. Put it on the center stand and see if both wheels spin free (you will also be able to feel if the wheel bearings are shot as the wheel will feel rough as you rotate it).

haggard also try checking your engine mounts just put it on center stand then see how much play is in the whole lump from side to side & also try holding front brake on & pushing bike back & forth to see if your steering bearings are loose

I would agree with everyone here, but I would like to suggest you get the bike with the front wheel off the ground and check that the steering hasn't come loose, I could imagine a fault like that if a bolt around the steering bearings had come loose.

Vibrating under braking is normally a warped disc(s). Obviously also worth going over and checking all the steering an suspension bolts are done up tight.

It all happened immediatley after fitting a side stand too, though i doubt that has anything to do with it, as its just bolted onto the frame underneath... Question

When i get some free time today or tommorow, ill have a go at the things you suggested Thumbs Up Getting it booked into Aye Gee's during the week too, so they can give it a service/look over
